Astrology July 2, 2014: Getting Our Affairs In Order With The Virgo Moon

COSMIC WATCH:

While many of us may have a distinct preference for order over chaos, being able to actually design or decipher that order, in the face of challenging disarray, can often seem like a gargantuan task for some us to accomplish, at least initially, as we begin to sort through the mayhem to see exactly what we have going on under the heap.

Fortunately, today’s Moon in “logical, systematic” Virgo can serve as a jump-start to help us lay claim to the “natural order of things.” The Virgo energy, which symbolically governs the digestive system in the body, naturally has an affinity for breaking things down into manageable, bite-size parts. Too, once elements are dis-assembled or broken down, we are better able to see how all the individual pieces fit together to form the whole of something. We also simultaneously learn where things need to be sequenced or pieced together, in the future, so that we can have more of a flowing or proper order around us.

With intellectual Mercury, the ruler of today’s Virgo Moon, also now direct, as of yesterday, in “curious” Gemini, even though it’s still in its shadow phase for two more weeks, this forward motion of the “Winged Messenger” can further help us with our problem-solving faculties, as our thoughts and ideas take on greater clarity. Additionally, the Virgo Moon’s sextile to “investigative” Pluto, this evening (6:20 pm EDT), bodes well for our ability to solve mysteries, as it primes us to go below the surface of things and take a peak at what is hidden. This may also be a good time to attempt to locate lost or misplaced items. Moon-Pluto aspects can also be advantageous for healing applications or energy re-alignments, especially with the Moon positioned in Virgo, the sign of health and nutrition.

We all want to be accepted for who we are; yet, simultaneously, it seems that we’re always trying to remake others as we would like them to be, instead of simply embracing them as they are. Sadly, this dichotomy is probably the reason why so many of us tend to recoil from showing our true selves in the first place: we’re afraid that, if we do, others will reject us – because we’re always automatically rejecting or finding fault with other people!

Perhaps, however, if we stopped trying to change others from the get-go, and instead put the point of focus on helping them to realize their fullest potential, or the “greatest version of themselves,” as Steve Maraboli so eloquently puts forth, we would also find it much easier, in the process, to be the irresistible, suave, debonair creatures that we were originally intended to be. What do they say, what goes around, comes around? And to treat others as you, yourself, would like to be treated. In “The Little Book of Letting Go” by Hugh Prather, he also mentions: “Notice that the moment you become unhappy is usually the moment you attempt to control another person.”

Lovable Venus’s heavenly alignment with dreamy Neptune today can help us to see and bring out the very best in others now. It’s a wildly romantic and compassionate influence and can even spawn platonic relationships! Too, it’s very creative and excellent for anything using our imagination or involving the arts.

On a personal note, for the last week or so, I’ve been back here blogging after a three-month absence (I’ve had Saturn opposing my natal Mercury and Sun for a while), experimenting with doing this quote of the day. While I have thoroughly enjoyed being back here with you, I have also quickly discovered that this blogging experience is not something that I care to commit to on a daily basis; it’s a little too much for me. Too, communicator Mercury is getting ready to shift retrograde on Saturday. So what I believe would be best for me, at this juncture, is to just show up here on an occasional basis, perhaps weekly or so, when I feel duly inspired to do so. Also, focus my attention more on quality, instead of on quantity.

The work week commences with the Moon at the end of “methodical” Virgo. Ideal for wrapping up old business. COSMIC WATCH:

Retrograde Mercury trine Mars, Moon in Virgo

We’re more confident in rallying behind our ideas today, or wanting to say what’s on our mind. Also, a positive time for buckling down and tackling projects that require attention to detail, including those that involve perfecting a skill or craft. May also want to put editing on that list.

Too, Mercury-Mars is a plus for public speaking, although it appears that the majority of us will probably be choosing to pass on that particular option, if statistics are correct. It’s estimated that approximately 75% of us suffer from ‘glossophobia,’ a technical term given for the severe fear of public speaking.  In fact, public speaking is deemed to be the greatest fear a person can have, even surpassing the fear of death! Why is that, I wonder? Could it be because most of us fear humiliation? Or, is it because we lack faith in our ideas? What do you think? Are you with the majority here?

COSMIC WATCH:

Intellectual Mercury (retrograde) conjuncts the Sun in “innovative” Aquarius, an aspect that can help us to shift or adjust our perspectives. Sort of like looking through a kaleidoscope and rotating the angle of the lens, we are more receptive, maybe even eager, to sampling different points of view, or taking in new information.  The Moon’s entrance into “analytical, logical” Virgo (2:58 am EST) also adds some positive foundational glue here. Virgo is one of two signs ruled by the planet Mercury (the other is Gemini).

Of course, with Mercury retrograde, it’s possible that we may later change our mind about something that we decide today, but instead of recoiling at this possibility (a draining perspective), why not celebrate the fact that we have the power to choose our illustrious thoughts in the first place? Such a wonderful option that many of us take for granted.

With the Moon still filing through “analytical, corrective” Virgo, we want to be championing our strengths while also incorporating practical strategies for self-improvement. The Moon’s trine to “transforming” Pluto (8:46 am EDT) may also bring answers to mysteries. Or, offer up healing solutions/insights worth acting upon. Moon-Pluto is also an excellent time for doing any clearing.

COSMIC WATCH:

Expansive Jupiter squares imaginative Neptune. While this bodes very well for our creative side, other aspects of our lives could get a little trickier to navigate the next few days. Our fantasies and idealism could get the best of us leaving us more vulnerable to those whose motives may be less than exemplary. On the shadow side, Neptune is linked with deception and “get rich quick” schemes. Thankfully the analytical Virgo Moon is also in force today and can help to introduce a healthy dose of skepticism into the picture for us, should we choose to employ it.

On another level, we may need to beware that Jupiter-Neptune also has some legacy with religious extremism and fanaticism.

Mental Mercury is also entering theatrical Leo (10:24 pm EDT) helping to make our communications much more colorful and dramatic in the coming weeks. Mercury will stay in Leo until September 1st.

Serious Saturn is also stationing direct in balancing Libra today. In the days and weeks ahead, this should help us to gain solid traction with respect to our goals and relationships, after capping off a period of review and rebuilding the last few months. “The important thing is to strive towards a goal which is not immediately visible.  That goal is not the concern of the mind, but of the spirit.”  ~Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

Today with the Moon in analytical Virgo we are able to discern the fine details of matters. Mental Mercury quinqunx probing Pluto also has us wanting to go deeper with our thoughts and investigate what puzzles us. As long as we don’t get too attached to our thinking and can avoid labeling perceived discordant situations as problematic, we have a fairly good chance to learn quite a bit today about ourselves and enjoy the world around us.

The restless Gemini Sun’s sextile to liberating Uranus, in spontaneous Aries, may also change things up for us so that we can sample from a more varied buffet of life experiences. This is a great day to deviate from our confining routines and engage in spur-of-the-moment endeavors.
