COSMIC WATCH:

Don’t limit yourself to being a mere fountain when you can contain an ocean.” Vera Nazarian

The Sun’s sextile to “probing” Pluto today encourages us to peel back the layers and go deeper into our experiences in a quest to unearth the buried treasure that is patiently awaiting us at our sacred core. The void-of-course Moon in “rock solid” Taurus also instills us with a renewed appreciation for those structures around us that are enduring and stable. “They who reach down into the depths of life where, in the stillness, the voice of God is heard, have the stabilizing power which carries them poised and serene through the hurricane of difficulties.” Spencer W. Kimball

Sun-Pluto is associated with the following areas/activities: excavating, bulldozing, research, investigation, spying, metaphysics, tax-planning, attending to estate or insurance matters, psychotherapy, renewal, past life regression, hypnosis, crisis management.

Famous October 30th Birthdays: Grace Slick, Ezra Pound. “A slave is one who waits for someone to come and free him.” Ezra Pound

Astrology October 29, 2012: Full Moon in Taurus

COSMIC WATCH:

“The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak.” Hans Hofman

Today’s Full Moon in practical, down-to-earth Taurus (3:49 pm EDT) makes a case for simplifying our lives and, correspondingly, conserving our energy and resources. Included here might be the issue of time and how we are managing it. Many of us often feel like we don’t have enough time to do all the things we want. Yet, few of us ever bother to take the time to thoroughly comb through our daily calendar to see what elements that we may be able to eliminate, or at least pare down, thereby freeing ourselves for more of the things we want.

Now is an especially good time to attend to this endeavor because the Taurus Full Moon is opposing Saturn, the planet billed as “Father Time.” Saturn’s activated ray is also linked with effectively using our resources in the most efficient manner possible. (Sometimes, too, with Saturn, we become more aware of limited resources and the consequences of shortages.)

Also, becoming more mindful of how we are allocating our time is an excellent way to get really honest with ourselves and our intentions. What is meant here is that sometimes we use activity as a self-sabotaging tool of denial. It’s a way to avoid doing something that we would prefer not to face. The thing is, our subconscious most likely knows what’s really going on here, so all we are doing is setting ourselves up for eventual defeat, and probably draining ourselves of precious energy in the process.

This Full Moon is also sextiling healing and regenerating Pluto, the symbolic ruler of our subconscious, suggesting that we have great potential now for being able to successfully introduce and integrate into our consciousness some of the hidden desires or secret motivations that have been perhaps driving our behavior, from below the threshold of our awareness.

Of course, with the Taurus Full Moon that means that the illuminating Sun is also in Scorpio, the sign that Pluto rules. The Sun’s passage through transformational Scorpio also activating the more complex themes of death and rebirth, procreation, crisis management, and shared resources. We are learning to balance more of these complicated areas alongside simpler pleasures and more basic needs now (Taurus).

Just prior to the Full Moon today, Mercury, governing communication and transportation, also shifts into philosophical Sagittarius and then exactly squares elusive Neptune. Neptune also happens to be the planetary ruler of hurricanes. Unfortunately, hurricane Sandy is a top story in the news (Mercury) now and the foremost topic on many of our minds. Hoping that everyone being impacted by this monster storm will make it through it safe and warm. With Mercury-Neptune, too, everyone would be wise to heed all warnings and not substitute wishful thinking (Neptune) for facts or logic (Mercury). Also, to possibly stay off the roads (Mercury) in storm-affected areas.

Full Moon in Taurus activities: Self-pampering and beauty treatments; attending artistic or cultural events; obtaining financial advice; attending to matters involving possessions; communing with nature; gardening; letting go of what no longer provides us with a sense of security or safety; getting more clear about what it is that we value and want in our lives.

Full Moon Blessings!

Astrology October 28, 2012: Mars Opposes Jupiter

COSMIC WATCH:

“If you don’t stand for something you will fall for anything.” – Malcolm X

With assertive Mars exactly opposite truth-seeking Jupiter today, it is possible that we may feel more compelled or inspired to share with others some of our core beliefs or convictions. On the shadow side, this planetary pairing can sometimes translate into over-zealousness or coming across as if we had a monopoly on the truth.

Additionally, Mars-Jupiter can give rise to more risk-taking, especially perhaps now with the Moon in adventurous Aries today and the Sun quincunx to experimental Uranus.

Mental Mercury is also applying to a square to psychedelic Neptune, which is exact on Monday. This can potentially inject some mental confusion into the mix or illogical thinking. On the other hand, it can be highly creative and positive for visualization.

Lovable Venus also shifts into her home sign of social, refined Libra today where she will reside until November 22nd

Astrology October 15, 2012: New Moon in Libra, Mars Trines Uranus

COSMIC WATCH:

“Sometimes people are beautiful. Not in looks. Not in what they say. Just in what they are.” Markus Zusak

A replenishing New Moon in pleasing Libra is occurring this morning (8:02 am EST), at 22 degrees of the sign, ideally setting the stage for a positive renewal of our spirit and emotions over the next few days. With a New Moon, we traditionally initiate new matters and, at the Full Moon, we start reaping the consequences of whatever it is that we have sown.

With this lunation occurring in diplomatic, sociable Libra we perhaps have greater opportunity to smooth out some of the rough patches in our life with a bit more finesse.  It seems that our capacity for compromise, or give and take, is elevated. Our objectivity is also potentially enhanced due to the airy detachment of Libra the scales, the sign of justice and the courts.

The Moon’s wide trine to retrograde Jupiter in Gemini also serves to endow us with a clearer view of the big picture that we have fashioned for ourselves. Moon-Jupiter may also stoke our generosity and benevolence. We tend not to recognize any limits when Luna is serenaded by Jupiter, as our optimism and enthusiasm are on the rise.

Coinciding with this New Moon we also have energizing Mars in Sagittarius trining ingenious Uranus in Aries, suggesting that our brilliance and originality are more freely on display now. Also, our sense of adventure. This is an ideal time for experimentation and for setting aside our normal assumptions about matters. Mars-Uranus helps us to see things in bold new ways. It is an amazing aspect for shifting perspectives, or for brainstorming. Or for learning things of a technical nature. Also, for breakthroughs or firsts in science and technology.

Too, on the eve of this aspect, we had the Space Shuttle Endeavor’s historic arrival at Exposition Park in LA, where it will soon be permanently on display in a museum. Uranus governs aviation and spacecraft.

Also yesterday, Felix Baumgartner broke the “world ascent by balloon” record before space diving out of the Red Bull Stratos helium-filled balloon over Roswell, New Mexico. He became the first person to reach supersonic speed without traveling in a jet or a spacecraft.

Oprah Winfrey and Academy Award winning director, Oliver Stone, were both born with Mars trining Uranus in their birth charts. “I do believe there are leaders who are like lightning (Uranus) and they come along and they lead. The Lincolns of the world, the Alexander the Greats, they do exist. They have existed.” Oliver Stone.

Since the New Moon today also sets up a void of course Moon until the Moon enters passionate Scorpio (at 8:06 pm EST), we may want to wait until the Moon switches signs before actually embarking on any new beginnings. “You raze the old to raise the new.” Justina Chen Headley

New Moon in Libra Activities: Beautifying our surroundings, remodeling, socializing, throwing a party, mediations or negotiations, attending cultural events, shopping for luxury items.

New Moon Blessings to you!

“There’s no value in digging shallow wells in a hundred places. Decide on one place and dig deep. Even if you encounter a rock, use dynamite and keep going down. If you leave that to dig another well, all the first effort is wasted and there is no proof you won’t hit rock again.” – Swami Satchidananda.

Intellectual Mercury conjuncts serious Saturn; both Mercury and Saturn shift into probing Scorpio. We’re presented with rich opportunities to go deeper with our thinking. We eagerly voyage to remote regions. Also, with Mercury trine fantasy Neptune, we are able to give a voice (Mercury) to our dreams (Neptune).

“We’re never so vulnerable than when we trust someone – but paradoxically, if we cannot trust, neither can we find love or joy.” – Walter Anderson

Venus, goddess of love and beauty, opposes fantasy Neptune today. Sometimes with this influence we have a tendency to put people on pedestals. We may need to be extra careful now that we don’t get swept away by what’s on the surface. Make sure that there’s some stuff – under the fluff – before we extend our trust!

Astrology October 3, 2012: Venus Opposes Neptune, Enters Virgo

COSMIC WATCH:

“We’re never so vulnerable than when we trust someone – but paradoxically, if we cannot trust, neither can we find love or joy.” Walter Anderson

Relationship Venus enters the discriminating realm of Virgo the Virgin (2:59 am EDT), for the next three weeks. This may translate into our being more selective and analytical in romance and partnerships.

However today, with Venus’s opposition to elusive Neptune in Pisces, our vulnerabilities may be on the rise. Venus-Neptune can blur boundaries. Sometimes with this aspect we also feel that we have to give more than we get.

Also on the shadow side there’s greater potential for some deceit with this influence, including the self-generated kind.

Additionally, Venus-Neptune has been known to produce some odd pairings. Such as unions with partners who are on completely different wavelengths. Mia Farrow, for instance, has this configuration in her chart and she married Frank Sinatra. Sonny Bono also had this same influence and he, of course, tied the knot with Cher. “Summer and Winter were not supposed to fall in love.” Julie Kagawa

“It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things.” Leonardo da Vinci

The Moon is still in “making it happen” Aries during the day. That should motivate us to get actively engaged with things instead of wanting to sit by on the sidelines. Later, the Moon’s opposition to “taskmaster” Saturn, in relationship Libra (6:32 pm EDT), may school us on what it takes to go the distance.

With the Moon still near its Full Phase and in the adventurous sign of Aries, what may have held us back before, is likely no longer going to be a deterrent. The Moon’s sextile to optimistic Jupiter (4:40 pm EDT) also encourages us to confidently stretch our wings.

“Uncertainty and mystery are energies of life. Don’t let them scare you unduly, for they keep boredom at bay and spark creativity.” R. I. Fitzhenry
