Cosmic Weather:
“Every single cell in the human body replaces itself over a period of seven years. That means there’s not even the smallest part of you now that was part of you seven years ago.” Steven Hall
It is a perplexing mystery how we often feel that we are basically the same person, day after day. Yet, in reality, for all practical purposes, we are in a continuous state of death and renewal while we are breathing, hanging out on the earth plane. At least, this is the case from the standpoint of our physical being. On the other hand, it is the persistent sense of our own seemingly unchanging ‘inner essence’ which most likely provides us with the notion we are more of an immutable force to be reckoned with! But even then, the idea of an enduring ‘inner essence’ is also a bit weird and baffling, when you think about it, because how does this ‘inner essence’ manage to keep itself glued together, in one piece, to begin with, when everything around it keeps wanting to turn into mush and or wither away? Maybe even more importantly, how does it manage to keep its hair perfectly coiffed, in all instances? That is the real 64-thousand dollar question! 🙂
Anyway… Today’s Full Moon in ‘life and death’ Scorpio, at 27 degrees of the sign, seemingly invites us to humbly bask in the full awareness of the infinite, deeper mysteries of life that perennially surround us, engulf us, maybe even haunt us, at times. So many things can potentially ‘spook us out’ on a daily basis, if we let them, especially in this age of 24/7 news coverage. Although, with the Full Moon in investigative Scorpio it could be that we possess the proper amount of emotional fortitude, unflappable courage, and perceptual curiosity now to want to willingly visit those dicey places/areas/dramas that tend to otherwise make us want to naturally recoil out of fear or trepidation. It is like we know now that we must move through, or go beyond, all the scary stuff to get to the ‘other side.’ The seemingly ‘safe side’ where all the monsters are benevolently slewed, our spouses are fairly subdued and obedient – for the most part – and all is right (healed) with the world! At least, for a little while. Till the next domino falls…
Scorpio is also the sign in which we take the trash or garbage out, both literally and symbolically. In the body, it is associated with the rectum and bladder, the two workhorses of elimination. What goes in (Sun in Taurus), must come out (Moon in Scorpio), at the risk of sounding crude. Interesting, too, isn’t it, how there is often so much shame, embarrassment, including yes, even mystery, associated with this particular, and much-needed body function. So hopefully Luna now, deposited in her full-figure form in seductive Scorpio, the premier snakeskin shedding energy, will inspire those of us, who are so inclined, to pitch/purge/recycle whatever is redundant/outworn in our lives, in order to make room for the new/nurturing/tantalizing ingredients that will, ideally, keep us standing upright and moving vigorously forward, a while longer.
As luck would have it, too, the passionate, intense Scorpio Moon is also occurring on the same day that lovable Venus is conjunct wild and wacky Uranus in hedonistic Taurus, an astrologically rebellious/liberating influence that poises us/tempts us to want to temporarily break with convention/tradition/our mates in order to pursue out of the ordinary worldly pleasures/values. To decadently indulge in new sensations/social/romantic experiences that likely move us outside of our rigid/stuffy comfort zones and straight into the dog house!
Thinker and orator Mercury is also exactly trining insightful, dark horse Pluto today, Scorpio’s modern-day ruler. So we are also possibly able to seduce/influence/persuade others now with our power thoughts, ideas, and spoken/written words in a non-threatening, yet formidable manner. This is also an excellent intellectual aspect for solving puzzles, riddles.

On This Day in History: On May 18, 1897 “Dracula” by Irish author Bram Stoker is published by Archibald Constable and Company in London.
The astrology that day: The illuminating Sun in sensual, neck-ruling Taurus was exactly opposite maverick Uranus and authoritative Saturn. Both of these planets were also exactly conjunct in ‘mistress/master of the night’ Scorpio!
