Astrology June 5, 2012: Rare Venus Sun Transit, Queen Elizabeth’s II Diamond Jubilee Celebration

Cosmic Watch:

The stage is set today for a very rare transit of the Sun by Venus, the planet of love, beauty, and festive celebration; the last Venus transit was on June 8, 2004. There will not be another one until 2117. The earliest known observation of this transit was in 1639 by English astronomer Jeremiah Horrocks.

Today’s Venus transit is suppose to last about six hours and visibility will be best from the west coast of the U.S., eastern Asia, and the Pacific regions. You can also go to the NASA website today for a free live webcast of the event.

When sweet Venus is normally conjunct the Sun (our sense of power) it generally has a softening influence on us. There is also more of an inclination for relationship, pleasure, and creative self-expression. It seems that whatever it is that we desire, when we have this aspect in operation, we are able to attract things to us with greater ease. Too, perhaps this could be the case because the Universe intuitively senses our innate fairness, graciousness, and cordiality, so it is more apt to respond, in kind, to accommodate our desires.

Venus is currently moving retrograde through loquacious Gemini. Hopefully, while she is here, we will be able to experience, firsthand, some of Venus’s lighthearted gaiety and love of words and communication that flows ever so effortlessly through the ether whenever she is deposited in this cheery sign. Ideally, this is also a wonderful time to write love poems or love letters.

Venus also likes parties and pageantry. And, right now in England, Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee celebration, marking 60 years of her monarchy, is taking place on a grand, lavish scale for all who want to witness it via the television and the internet. Millions of people have reportedly been watching and actively partaking in the festivities in London for the past four days. This is only the second time in a thousand years of the British monarchy that there has been a Diamond Jubilee.

Queen Elizabeth II is also a Venus-ruled figure herself, having her Sun in solid Taurus, along with her Moon in regal Leo, the sign of royalty. The British Royal Family is now also said to be experiencing a resurgence in popularity, stemming no doubt, in part, to Queen Elizabeth’s long-lasting love for and dedication and service to the people of the Commonwealth of Nations; Queen Elizabeth II is the Queen of 16 countries.

There was also a report that the Queen’s husband, Prince Philip, was admitted to the hospital on Monday, with reportedly a bladder infection. Seems very sad that he will not be able to be by his wife’s side to celebrate her special moment.  We wish Prince Philip a Godspeed recovery. He is a Gemini and will be 91 years young on Sunday.

On the eve of Venus’s Transit of the Sun, Sir Elton John, Sir Paul McCartney, and several other recording artists performed in concert for the Queen and members of the Royal family, along with 10,000 other people in the audience who were lucky enough to win tickets to the performances. Also, elsewhere, many different cultural and artistic exhibits are being held to coincide with this special celestial happening.

COSMIC WATCH:

After having a rather rough go, the last few days, affectionate Venus in nurturing Cancer appears to catch a break today with her warm sextile to abundant Jupiter in earthly pleasures Taurus.

Venus-Jupiter is often regarded as synonymous with “luck in love.”

This aspect is also grand for entertaining and parties, with Venus also ruling our social life and Jupiter liking to do things on a lavish scale.

Jupiter actually rules and symbolizes matters of royalty, and we have William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, reportedly partying with the glamorous “Hollywood Jet Set,” this weekend, in LA.

The Moon is also in passionate Scorpio today, potentially magnifying our desires and ramping up our ability to seize upon and claim the rich, intrinsic pleasures of the moment.

Of course, life is never simple and uncomplicated.

We also have “wild child” Uranus, the planet of personal freedom and rebellion, stationing retrograde today in self-willed Aries. Whenever a planet changes direction, it tends to call more attention to itself (Uranus stays retrograde until December 9th).

Too, we have intellectual Mercury in theatrical Leo forming a stabilizing sextile to disciplined, conforming Saturn in diplomatic Libra today. This suggests that we do have the mental ability to “check” or “censor” our performances (Leo), if need be. Mercury sextile Saturn is excellent for both focused concentration and serious discussions.

Too, it may be an especially good day for talking about “affairs of the heart” (perhaps popping the big question?) with Mercury in romantic Leo and Saturn in matrimonial Libra.

Astrology April 28, 2011: “Be An Angel” Moon in Pisces

COSMIC WEATHER:

“When angels visit us, we do not hear the rustle of wings, nor feel the feathery touch of the breast of a dove; but we know their presence by the love they create in our hearts.” Unknown

The compassionate Pisces Moon admonishes us to be an angel to others today. To selflessly take creatures, fragile or weak, under our wings and provide them with kind, loving shelter. Too, sometimes just taking a moment to utter a few, uplifting words to a person can fill that person with a bright, glorious hope.

We also have energizer Mars applying to a conjunction to expansive, optimistic Jupiter today (this aspect will also be in around for the Royal Wedding). This is a very potent alignment that tends to make us much more open to envisioning grander possibilities for ourselves and others. As a matter of fact, if we could astrologically “bottle” hope, this is one aspect that we would be putting into that container.

Too, Mars conjunct Jupiter is linked with evangelizing and preaching. So, if you perhaps feel a little inspired to give that “sermon on the mount” today, this aspect could be the reason why.

BTW, Mars-Jupiter also has a legacy of being mingled in with the affairs of royalty, with Jupiter ruling kings and queens. Kind of neat that this uplifting aspect will be imbedded, forever, in Kate and William’s royal wedding chart. It could be, too, that their loving marriage will serve as an inspiring template for others, maybe the whole world, to follow. The late Princess Diana, now in the company of angels herself, must be so very, very proud. Of course, Diana’s, dear, sweet memory, will also be present in all of our hearts tomorrow, as we watch the young couple wed.

Famous Birthdays April 28th: Jay Leno (61), Ann Margret (70).

A quick peek at Ann-Margret’s horoscope shows that she has 6 planets in earthy, sensual Taurus, which is also a very artistic sign. Four of those Taurus planets are involved in a harmonious trine to creative, imaginative Neptune. The Neptune influence helps to endow Ann with more of an ephemeral or otherworldly (angelic) quality, and also makes her very sympathetic and compassionate. Everything I have always read about Ann-Margret suggests that she does, indeed, have a heart of gold.

Have an angelic day! Earn those wings!
