The Sentimental Moon leaves Idealistic Libra for Intense Scorpio (3:52 pm EDT) turning up the volume on our emotions.
Communicator Mercury conjuncts Serious Saturn in Relationship Libra (7:36 am EDT) inclining us to seek out substance over frills in our interactions. With Mercury-Saturn, we want our words to carry maximum weight and impact.
Saturn, by itself, characteristically endows us with a strong sense of duty and responsibility. Saturn represents the work ethic and achievement. Mercury-Saturn, on the shadow side, can also trigger our fears and awareness of our personal limitations. With Saturn, we tend to be more acutely aware of our boundaries, our sense of separateness.
Venus, ruling money, art, beauty, music, romance, relationships, all the things that we love, also turns retrograde in Probing Scorpio today (3:05 am EDT), the sign of life, death, and rebirth. With Venus retrograde here, we are seeking “deeper” connections. Deeper ties to both our past and present, and also, correspondingly, a more palpable sense of our own continuity and purpose. Symbolically, our lives are like great “Venusian works of art” in progress. Venus retrograde prods us to revisit and remotely observe some of what we have already painted or sculpted. Just yesterday, for example, I got a telephone message from a friend telling me she had just lost her pet bird after 16 years. In my horoscope, Mars, the Great Activator or Trigger of events, was exactly conjunct my 8th house cusp in Scorpio, when I heard the news. This house is associated with “endings” and death. My friend, who lost her bird, also has Pluto (Scorpio’s co-ruler) now exactly conjunct her 8th house cusp at 2 Capricorn.
Interestingly, Mental Mercury is now conjunct Karma Lord Saturn, in John Lennon’s old sign of Libra, making this perhaps a more fitting time for us to mentally revisit and ponder the huge legacy that John, in particular, bequeathed to us. (It is John’s birthday, October 9th, and many events have been planned around the world to mark the event.)
Mercury-Saturn often denotes a mental focus on the past, on our roots or foundation. Sometimes this energy is also layered in with a touch of melancholy and sadness, due to Saturn’s heavier vibration and natural focus on loss and limitation. COSMIC WEATHER:
Moonleaves “Dark, Foreboding” Scorpio for “I Just Want To Be Free Again” Sagittarius (8:52 am EDT). “Can you help me to achieve this end?” (Please??? Pretty please???)
The problems we are dealing with today are in the guise of “Over-indulgent” Jupiter and “Hippie-Rebel” Uranus both in “Drink Till You Drop” Pisces. Mars, at the very end of “Matrimonial” Libra, is colliding with both of these “juiced-up” forces via the queer “quinqunx” aspect, which means it could be kind of dicey for all of us. In fact, I woke up this morning and am already having serious “Uranus-ruled” computer issues, so I may be “hitting the Pisces bottle” even sooner than usual. (No lie. I may even spike my coffee with hard liquor, before I finish this blog. It’s that bad.)
Of course, the thing that makes this “quinqunx scenario” even more risky is because Mars is in the “marriage” sign, so we could be capturing all manner of “holy grief” from our partners, no matter what we do. Another thing: With the rebellious, yet evasive, energy of the day, all we want to do is run away and hide from from our mates in some Piscean hippie commune.
With “overzealous Mars-Jupiter,” we’re also thinking that we may just be able to get away with it, and successfully blend in with the other traumatized hippies, who have also ditched their spouses, if we but only meditate and pray hard enough on the matter. It’s also that we don’t love our partners. We do. We just need some time away from them, perhaps a few decades, because they’re driving us frickin’ crazy!!!

COSMIC WEATHER:
It’s day two of the “Major Sexy” Scorpio Moon (Scorpio rules sex). “Love Diva” Venus, is also hot and bothered in this same sign, and is helping to fan the mighty flames of passion by sextiling (really, what else is there for the poor girl to do here?) the “Sex-Crazed” Pluto in “I’m So Tired of Working All The Time” Capricorn, so instead, darlin’, “Lets get it on!”
Meanwhile, “Mental” Mercury is stationing direct in “Virginal” Virgo, after its three week, involuntary, “leave of absence” retrograde period that few are talking about openly, but behind the scenes, there’s still a lot of whispering going on and speculation about why Mercury had to take the sudden leave.
Mercury, however, is still finding it very difficult to function properly today, and now it’s mainly because of its wide trine to “Sex-Crazed” Pluto, which is generating all kinds of non-stop, erogenous thoughts about “virgins,” that we better not discuss here.
Sex, sex, sex! It’s what’s happening now, with the passionate Scorpio Moon and the intense Venus-Pluto “sextile” relationship. Sex can really change and transform our lives now. It can take us to places we’ve never been to before, including the floorboards of semi tractor trailers!
Since Scorpio also rules “the afterlife,” and Pluto also co-rules Scorpio, for those of us who maybe don’t have anyone “in the flesh” to “get physical with,” we may want to consider becoming “intimate” with a “spirit” tonight. We do need to be careful, however, because if the spirit “falls for us,” they may want us to permanently “join them,” which could prove somewhat problematic for those of us “not quite ready to leave here” just yet.
Born on this day: Beloved singer “Barry White” was born September 12, 1944. Barry was born with “Love Goddess” Venus tightly conjunct “Passion King” Mars in Romantic Libra. This “sexiest of all aspects” was also sextile to “Intensely Passionate” Pluto in Entertaining Leo, which is perhaps why Barry was able to powerfully connect with and communicate to “the masses” the keen passion that he was torrentially feeling “in the depths of his soul.” (Pluto rules “the masses” and “mass appeal.”)
With Barry’s Sun and Mercury in Virgo (like today), and his Moon in a water sign (Nurturing Cancer), a lot of the “similar type” cosmic energy that Barry was born with, is also permeating the ether today. Including, Venus conjunct Mars now (but in an “out of sign conjunction”) and Venus and Mars are both sextile Mesmerizing Pluto.
What this shows, too, is how beautifully the “cosmic energy” can be “channeled” or “sublimated” along lines of artistic expression (or for other imaginative uses). Mars-Venus, in other words, does not mean only “physical sex,” which, of course, though, too, is a beautiful, “work of art” in itself. Especially with Barry White’s erotic music “as an enticing canvas backdrop.” (Venus rules love, art, music, and “things of beauty”; Mars rules “passion” and “energizes” expression).

The Universe is suggesting we “mingle and merge,” this weekend. It’s providing us with an idealistic, romantic Libra Moon all Friday and into Saturday. The Moon will also conjoin “Love Goddess” Venus (4:59 am EDT Friday) and “Sex Lord” Mars (9:22 am EDT Friday).
The Moon will then descend into Sexual Scorpio on Saturday evening (8:27 pm EDT), at which time we are highly urged to practice our “night moves” with grace and precision, particularly when the Moon throws a “sextile” aspect to “Passionate” Pluto (1:37 am EDT Sunday).
We also have the option of continuing to perfect these steamy activities throughout the day on Sunday, as the Moon stays in Scorpio all day long. Or, we can choose to do weeding and yard work. It’s up to us. We only need to make sure that if we do choose the second option, that we don’t get carried away and try to “get intimate” with the lawn mower. A potentially painful proposition that could also result in an “uneven lawn,” which could make us wildly unpopular in the neighborhood.
In the News:
Federal Judge Vaughn R. Walker, on Thursday, lifted his stay on the same-sex marriages ban, paving the way for gay couples in California to marry in that state. Walker delayed, however, implementation of his order to lift the ban until August 18th.
Walker’s ruling a week ago, that a voter-approved ban on same sex marriage was unconstitutional, was rendered with pioneering Mars in Matrimonial Libra exactly squaring off with transformational Pluto in governmental Capricorn. Mars-Pluto can be indicative of someone “seizing power” or taking “forceful action.” It is also a classic “war aspect” replete with power clashes and clashes of will. There is strong opposition to Judge Walker’s ruling.
Also, “Status Quo Preserver” Saturn in Nuptials Libra was opposite Uranus in Aries when Walker ruled last week. Uranus is associated with equality and gay rights issues and also represents change. With the Saturn and Uranus opposition, once again, we had the pitting of the old versus the new, with the new winning out this time, perhaps also because of the simultaneously strong Mars-Pluto aspect which tends to bulldoze existing structures and protocol.
On August 18th, Saturn in relationship Libra will be exactly squaring transforming Pluto to a tee. It ought to be interesting to see how this aspect plays out. Saturn-Pluto can represent “death to the past,” but often not without a bitter fight and, of course, same-sex marriage remains a controversial and polarizing issue.
