“Reality continues to ruin my life.” Bill Watterson

Cosmic Weather:

“As if we didn’t have enough to worry about already today, with holiday gift returns and all. Now we have to add scary “boogeyman” Pluto, ruler of the underworld, to the picture, via the Sun’s conjunction to it in skeletal Capricorn.

What’s worse: The Pluto boogeyman may be holed up inside of us! Making him that much harder to eradicate, as he knows the location of our subterranean crawl spaces and can pull all of our scary strings.

With Sun-Pluto, we tend to look on the “dark side of things” and harbor suspicions. This energy often arouses our deepest fears, the ones that we have dutifully submerged over time. Pluto symbolizes what is buried deep within our “psychological caves.”

Sometimes, too, our suspicions are justified, as “master detective,” Pluto Cousteau, can bring clandestine activities into the light of day. Foreboding secrets are suddenly revealed, including the biggest of all: Evil revelations concerning our true weight! (Let’s really hope and pray that we can manage to keep that fat cat in the bag a while longer. :))

Too, there could also be real boogeymen lurking around outside of us! And chances are good that some of them may be sporting fashionable trench coats, bought on clearance from Kohl’s, and donning thick dark shades, and speaking with a whisper into walkie talkies. Yes, Sun-Pluto tends to bring out all the real-life spies (Pluto rules covert operations and hidden forces).

And here we thought with the tidy Virgo Moon, that we would be able to fit in relaxing bouts of vacuuming today. Instead, we have to grapple with seedy human affairs, and tortuous intrepidation and intrigue.  Go figure.

On the plus side, Sun-Pluto can be “enlightening” and “transforming.” It governs purging and elimination. But, can we stand the truth of the scale?  That’s the million-dollar question.

Questions to perhaps ask ourselves today: 1) What makes us afraid, and why? 2) Other than our weight, what are we most afraid of others finding out about us? 3) How have we conquered our fears in the past? Can we employ a similar type strategy today? 4) Along the same lines, what can we purge or eliminate from our lives now to feel better, more empowered about ourselves? 5) What do we obsess over, and why? (Pluto rules obsessive, compulsive behavior. Good time for psychotherapy, studying about psychology.)

“The key to change, is to let go of fear.” Rosanne Cash

“When sorrows come, they come not single spies, but in battalions.” William Shakespeare.

Patricia’s Astrology Horoscope December 25, 2010: Christmas Joy

“I heard the bells on Christmas Day; their old familiar carols play, and wild and sweet the word repeat of peace on earth, good-will to men.” Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

Cosmic Word Of The Day: Joy

(Moon trine Sun. Moon trine Pluto.)

Joy: 1) the emotion of great delight or happiness caused by something exceptionally good or satisfying; keen pleasure; elation

Cosmic Weather:

“Early Christmas Day there’s a colorful, roaring Leo Moon and gift wrap and ribbon could be flying all over the place in a dashing race to open up our gifts and see what Santa’s left us under the tree. Of course, those of us who have been naughty this past year may be dramatically licking our wounds now, in real Leo “drama queen” style, silently vowing to be nicer next year, so we won’t, once again, have to face the utter, abject humiliation and suffer the complete loss of pride of “zero gifts” from Santa. The most devastating personal blow here, of course, being: No George Clooney under the tree!!!

Oh, the problematic joy of Christmas Day!

When the Moon enters practical Virgo (10:15 am EST), the cosmic energy around us becomes much more serviceable and manageable. We are even able to somehow miraculously endure being holed up with oddball relatives for hours on end, with no chance for a quick escape. 🙂

Later, the Moon’s harmonious trines to both the warming Sun (4:57 pm EST) and transforming Pluto (6:49 pm EST) help to foster deep feelings of contentment within us, and also help to strengthen our precious ties with loved ones.

Christmas Blessings, to all those who celebrate the joy of this magical day. Best wishes to everyone for a glorious, prosperous New Year.

Also, thank you so much for reading my “Cosmic Life Coach” astrology blog, this past year. I have really appreciated it. I’m not quite sure, at this point, whether to continue with it or not in the new year. It’s something I’m presently mulling over. Trying to ascertain the best use of my energies for 2011.

“You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.” Kahlil Gibran

Cosmic Word Of The Day: Visitation

(Moon trine Mercury. Jupiter conjunct Uranus.)

Visitation: 1) the act of visiting 2) a visit for the purpose of making an official examination or inspection

Cosmic Weather:

“The stars are looking pretty bright for that annual visitation from Santa and his crew tonight! The Moon is in generous Leo and trine communicator Mercury in optimistic Sagittarius (8:45 pm EST).  Could be that Santa’s a little chattier than the usual.  Deviating from the typical, “Ho, ho, ho”  drill. Hopefully, though, he won’t veer off into politics or any other hotbed subjects, a natural allure when Mercury is in opinionated Sag.

We may also want to hang some “bigger” stockings by the chimney, as there’s a chance that Santa may be reaching deeper into his pockets this year.  The Leo Moon typically likes to splurge.

Too, we should probably set up Santa’s stage tonight in real regal fashion, in keeping with the Moon in Leo’s intrinsic desire for pomp and circumstance. How about if we put the hot chocolate in a very fine porcelain mug and the sugar cookies on a handsome silver tray? Also maybe put on a little Celine Dion divinely caroling in the background.

Let us also warm Santa’s heart by leaving him with a little something extra tonight. A special poem by George MacDonald (below). A tender prompting from the magical Jupiter and Uranus conjunction in giving Pisces, which suggests to us the “perfect gift” to give this Christmas. It also lets Santa know that we are aware of the deeper meaning of the season, and that it is truly more blessed to give than to receive.

Still, if there is any way, any way at all, that Santa can maybe pull it off, and put George Clooney under our holiday tree, we will be much obliged. Hope springs eternal, doesn’t it? 🙂 Especially this miraculous time of year, when fairy-tale wishes really can come true under the mistletoe.

GIFT FOR A FRIEND

If, instead of a gem

or even a flower,

we would cast the gift

of a lovely thought

Into the heart of a friend,

that would be giving

as angels give.

Merry Christmas, for those who celebrate. Peace and Love on earth.

“A man desires praise that he may be assured, that he may be quit of his doubting of himself; he is indifferent to applause when he is confident of success.” Alec Waugh

Cosmic Word Of The Day: Adulation

(Moon in Leo)

Adulation: 1) to show excessive admiration or devotion to; flatter or admire servilely

Cosmic Weather:

Moon vacates “familial” Cancer to assume a “seat on the throne” in royal Leo the Lion (7:51 am EST). Accordingly, we are likely in need of some elevation and adulation in our own daily lives. Especially re-affirming for us would be to hear a measure of applause, so we can graciously take a bow. A standing ovation would, of course, be even better.

The Leo Moon also likes to rule, and with a quinqunx aspect to “Darth Vader” Pluto, in ambitious Capricorn (4:21 pm EST), it could become a bit of a jungle out there, with a show of force and power struggles. Of course, this scenario may well be avoided by striking up a spirit of compromise.

“Applause waits on success.” Benjamin Franklin.

Activities highlighted today: theater, acting, directing, entertaining, parties, activities with children, event-planning, shopping for gold jewelry.

“We are never deceived. We deceive ourselves.” Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Cosmic Word Of The Day: Charade

(Mars semi-square Neptune)

Charade: 1) a blatant pretense or deception esp. something so full of pretense as to be a travesty

Cosmic Weather:

Moon is in “smothering love” Cancer all day.  There’s an increased tendency to choke and turn blue whenever we’re around members of the opposite sex.

We’re also awash with nebulous Mars-Neptune (8:58 pm EST). A tricky dicky, “masquerade ball” of a day. Pants are on fire with lies. Things are a charade. Deception knows no bounds. Believe nobody. This even extends to St. Nick and St. Julian Assange.

Golly gee! The crystal ball also looks like a big green blob!

Things are even much worse than originally perceived.  All “code red” rules apply, until further notice. Especially the ones pertaining to dating muscular, snake oil salesmen. 🙂

“At no time is freedom of speech more precious than when a man hits his thumb with a hammer.” Marshall Lumsden

Cosmic Word Of The Day: Gigantic

(Mercury square Jupiter. Total Lunar Eclipse. Winter Solstice. Sun enters Capricorn.)

Gigantic: 1) Very large, huge 2) of, like, or befitting a giant

Cosmic Weather:

Gigantic day unfolding in the cosmos!  We have the total lunar eclipse in “talk till you drop” Gemini. Sun is “born again” in the “baptismal waters” of the winter solstice.  Also, the Sun enters “achievement-minded” Capricorn. Moon also enters “raid the refrigerator” Cancer (4:22 am EST).

We additionally get to whip out the “biggest words” we know for retro Mercury in Sagittarius’s repeat “meet-up match” with “let’s stretch it to the max” Jupiter. Mercury rules words and aligned with expander Jupiter, they can easily become pompous dinosaurs. Designed to embellish and impress.

“Blame it on a simple twist of fate.” Bob Dylan

Cosmic Word Of The Day: Twist

(Mercury square Uranus.)

Twist: 1) to turn (something) from one direction to another, as by rotating or revolving. 2) to bend tortuously

Cosmic Weather:

Moon continues in “loquacious” Gemini.  “Can we talk your head off? Pretty, pretty, please, please, please???”

Intellectual Mercury (Gemini’s ruler) retrogrades back into” truth-serum” Sagittarius and forms a “Mighty Mouse” square with “electrifying” Uranus who is poised to wickedly “flip our mental switches” today, if given half a chance.

With Uranian’s shocking undercurrent messing with our fragile, tender brains, we are probably going to have to think faster than normal today, and also be comfortable taking up residency outside that cozy little circuit box. Change-agent Uranus likes for us to be unorthodox and innovative. Radically different in our thinking. When he’s up to it, he can even visit us with “flashes of genius.”

But there’s a hefty price to pay for all this phenomenal insight: Other people’s ideas may seem more tortuous or outright wacky to us now. And, we’re like sitting ducks, forced to hear them out. No help that the Moon is also in blabbermouth Gemini.

“Father, please forgive them. They know not what they say or think. They are being held hostage to “mad scientist” Uranus, who is sadly using them as props in a juvenile laboratory experiment. Cut them a little slack.  Don’t send them to that hot place down below to live out the rest of their days. Amen.”

Regardless, we may want to avoid making snap decisions today.  Too, it may be wise for all of us to keep that positive, patriotic chant playing in our heads throughout the day: “Yes we can, yes we can. Yes we can make it through this fast-paced, maniacal day. So help us President Obama. Amen.” 🙂

“What separates the winners from the losers is how a person reacts to each new twist of fate.” Donald Trump.

“The older I grow, the more I listen to people who don’t talk much.” Germain G. Glien

Cosmic Word Of The Day: Blab

(Moon in Gemini. Mercury retro in Sagittarius conjunct the Sun.)

Blab: 1) to talk or chatter indiscreetly or thoughtlessly 2) a person who blabs; blabbermouth

Cosmic Weather:

“Loose lips could do more than sink ships today.  They could also drive us frickin’ crazy! Blab, blab, blab. Shut up!!! Go away!!!

Yes, it’s the monthly return of the “killer blabbermouth” Gemini Moon. What’s worse, communicator Mercury, Gemini’s ruler, has retrograded back into preachy Sagittarius and is exactly conjunct the powerhouse Sun.

We are crazy zealous about our beliefs now, and each of us has a long-winded sermon on the mount that we must dutifully deliver before dusk today, otherwise we’ll all turn into pumpkins. Also, don’t even think about getting us started on the subject of politics. Especially the hot topic of Sarah Palin‘s hair and whether or not she covertly travels with a hairdresser. (Do you think she does?)

All I want to know is: How in the heck are we ever going to be able to disengage ourselves long enough to finish our holiday shopping?

“A baseball park is the one place where a man’s wife doesn’t mind his getting excited over somebody else’s curves.” Brendan Francis

Cosmic Word Of The Day: Curve

(Sun square Uranus. Venus sesquiquadrate Uranus.)

Curve: 1) a continuously bending line without angles  2) Baseball: a pitch delivered with a spin that causes the ball to veer from a normal straight path, away from the side from which it was thrown

Cosmic Weather:

Are you any good at catching curve balls? If so, you may have a decided advantage today, as the life-giving Sun in adventurous Sagittarius forms an exact square to high-voltage Uranus (1:48 pm EST), who is notorious for throwing us a curve ball or two to keep us alert, and on our toes.

Uranus symbolizes change, and is a master at ditching convention. Uranus encourages us to break out of our predictable molds. We likely progress now by simply going with the flow, and not staging heavy resistance to whatever changes may be coming down the pike.

Romantic Venus in intense Scorpio is also linked in a challenging aspect to Uranus. Venus-Uranus usually creates the desire for more personal freedom, as well as a need for more emotional excitement in relationships. Too, it can make us seek “unusual” connections with persons we normally would not be attracted to, and may not actually have much in common with.

Meanwhile, the Moon is in money-minded Taurus during the day, then switches to chatty Gemini (10:38 pm EST). Setting the stage for the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Gemini on Dec. 21st.

“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” Victor Frankl

News Update 12/18: With the Sun in politically-minded Sagittarius exactly square change-agent Uranus, which rules equality issues, (and square expansive Jupiter), and sextile “let’s all peacefully co-exist” Neptune, in humanitarian Aquarius, the U.S.  Senate has gone ahead and voted today to repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” by a vote of 65 to 31.The Senate has now sent the bill to President Obama, who had campaigned on ending the DADT policy, which banned gays from openly serving in the military. Some may say that the Senate through a “big curve ball” today. Definitely an historic day in America. (NYTimes.com)

“Inside each of us is a beautiful flower garden.  This is the garden of the soul. With each lesson we learn, the garden grows. As we learn together, our individual gardens form a tranquil paradise.” Sri Chinmoy

(Sun sextile Neptune)

Mystic: 1) involving or characterized by esoteric, otherworldly, or symbolic practices or content, as certain religious ceremonies and art; spiritually signficant; ethereal 2) of the nature of or pertaining to mysteries known only to the initiated: mystic rites

Cosmic Weather:

As the drama of the triple conjunction in Capricorn continues to wane, we are longing for a soothing escape into the transcendent ethereal realms, seeking safe haven in a mystical paradise, with the “illuminating” Sun sextile “meditative” Neptune, ruler of our imagination, blissfully pointing the way.

The calming Taurus Moon also helps to placate our emotions.
