Cosmic Weather:
“It is not the failure that holds us back but the reluctance to begin over again that causes us to stagnate.” Clarissa Pinkola Estes
We have a New Moon in ‘initiating’ Aries today (4:50 am). It’s also the first New Moon of the astrological new year, which occurred when the Sun entered the sign of Aries at the Spring (Northern) equinox.
The New Moon in Aries is always a time for us to embark on personal new beginnings. The keywords for Aries are: I am. So we’re recognizing or affirming our very existence now by putting things into motion. By taking action. By creating. We’ll also want to pay attention to the house in our natal chart in which this New Moon is occurring as that is the area of our life in which these new activities will be getting underway.
This is also an excellent time for us to incorporate some of the qualities of Aries, such as independence, adventurousness, and fearlessness. Also, for learning how to take the initiative in matters as well as for developing a strong belief in ourselves.
Aspect-wise, today’s New Moon is square to Saturn, Pluto, and the South Node in Capricorn. Suggesting that it’s very important now to be very focused and grounded (Saturn) in our actions; assertive, but not pushy (Pluto); and responsive, instead of reactive (South Node).
“When it’s obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don’t adjust the goals, adjust the action steps.” Confucius

On This Day in History: On April 5, 1923 Firestone Tire and Rubber Company starts producing inflatable tires.
Astrologically, that day, there was a grand fire trine involving the Sun, Mercury, and Chiron in pioneering Aries; visionary Neptune in leadership Leo; and the Moon in futuristic Sagittarius. Jupiter was also retrograde in resourceful, transformative Scorpio and trining Uranus, the planet of invention and technology, in imaginative Pisces.
Famous April 5 Birthdays: Booker T. Washington, Spencer Tracy, Bette Davis, Gregory Peck, Colin Powell, Pharrel Williams
“Success is not to be measured so much by the status one has attained in life but rather by the obstacles one has overcome while trying to succeed.” Booker T. Washington.
Booker T. Washington, an American educator who was born into slavery (b. 4/5/1856), was also born right after a New Moon in Aries, just like we have today. He had his Sun and Moon conjunct in pioneering Aries, along with four planets conjunct in compassionate Pisces – Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, and Neptune. (Today we also have Mercury, Venus, and Neptune conjunct in Pisces!) His Pisces planets were also all square to teacher, obstacle-ruler Saturn in thinker, information imparter Gemini.
Happy New Moon Blessings!
