Cosmic Weather:

“The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark.” – Michelangelo Buonarroti

The illuminating Sun – thought to govern our will, ego, and basic urge to be – rockets into aspirational, Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius today (9:03 am), potentially ratcheting up our desire to chase big dreams, hug distant new horizons. Also, a time when we may feel more comfortable using the bully pulpit to express/declare our views.

Motivator Mars, the action-planet, now nearing the ‘anaretic ‘ or 29th degree of Scorpio, will also be entering Sadge on the 24th as the Sun and Mars are still orbiting in conjunction (or in close proximity) to each other.

Sun-Mars energy is often associated with ushering in sudden, fast-moving developments. Too, on the shadow side, sometimes this more fluid pairing may coincide with partaking in rash or more impulsive behavior or actions that we may regret later.

Interestingly, the Sun and Mars were exactly conjunct this past Saturday morning, in secretive Scorpio (12:42 am), just prior to when CEO Sam Altman of OpenAI was reportedly axed by board members of that company for reasons that are still unknown, immediately sending ‘Scorpionic’ shockwaves throughout Silicon Valley and beyond. Now today, there are reports circulating that Altman has been re-instated as CEO at OpenAI – the company that is the purveyor of the popular ChatGPT.

Meanwhile, Waxing Luna leaves compassionate Pisces for enterprising Aries today (12:19 pm). Luna will also harmoniously trine the newly ensconced Sagittarius Sun, shortly thereafter (12:35 pm), hopefully allowing for an easy flow between our inner and outer selves. The Aries Moon may also enhance our desire to spontaneously, and more confidently or courageously, put things into motion now, especially with the Sun and Mars (which rules the Aries Moon) still paired together.

Amen to that! 🙂

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

Astrology March 5, 2022: Sun Conjuncts Jupiter

Cosmic Weather:

“How far that little candle throws his beams! So shines a good deed in a weary world.” – William Shakespeare

This Saturday, the empowering Sun in transpersonal Pisces conjuncts magnifying Jupiter (9:06 am); optimally, a chance to cozy up to our more angelic side. Spreading around generous doses of goodwill, selflessly serving others in need are possible outlets or avenues of expression now that can hopefully help to provide us with a deeper feeling of connection and higher purpose. Jupiter, the biggest planet in our solar system, traditionally has had notable moral, religious, legal, educational, and cultural overtones to it; all elements, that for the most part, attempt to elevate or enrich our lives beyond the level of mere existence.

Jupiter spends about one year in each of the twelve zodiacal signs; too, today’s Sun-Jupiter in conjunction in the sign of Pisces has actually only occurred a few times in the past hundred years – so it’s a rare event! Looking back, one of the times when these two heavenly bodies were both conjunct in Pisces was in mid-March of 1963. A major “Jupiterian-themed” event did occur on March 18th, that year, when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled (9-0), in the landmark case of Gideon v. Wainwright, that said that states are required to provide legal counsel to indigent defendants charged with a felony. (Pisces represents, among other things, those who are impoverished or down on their luck, victims’ rights, civil rights, the disenfranchised; it also governs places of confinement/care such as prisons and hospitals.)

In general, expansive Jupiter has been found to raise our levels of faith, hope, generosity, and optimism; it tugs at us to want to include more of the world around us in our daily lives. While Jupiter is also associated with luck or prosperity, that connection could also partially be the result of simply harboring a glass-half-full mindset (the notion being that you tend to get, what you expect!). The shadow side of Jupiter is linked with extravagance, overdoing, being too cocksure or arrogant, taking things for granted. Also, especially with the Sun-Jupiter conjunction in dreamy Pisces, there could be a tendency towards escapism, delusion, addiction, or gullibility.

“Don’t go in and hide; don’t come out and shine; stand stock-still in the middle.” – Zhuangzi

Meanwhile, the waxing Moon also remains in trail-blazing Aries today, priming us towards taking direct action on our desires. The ruler of Aries – the planet Mars – is also at the anaretic (or 29th degree) of ambitious Capricorn (along with social Venus), so we may feel more of a sense of urgency to complete things, concerned possibly that we are running out of time (also check your personal chart to see what area of your life might be involved here). Tomorrow, both Venus and Mars, the cosmic lovers, will enter unconventional Aquarius.

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

Astrology October 21, 2014: Moon Enters Cooperative Libra

“Nothing truly valuable can be achieved except by the unselfish cooperation of many individuals.” Albert Einstein

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon’s entrance into Venus-ruled, “cooperative” Libra (7:12 am EDT) encourages us to collaborate our efforts with others toward a common goal versus “going it alone,” a scenario that usually more naturally unfolds when we make a sincere effort to let others know that we value and respect their input and ideas. Philanthropist Jon M. Huntsman Sr. also wisely reminds us here that, “Life is not a game of Solitaire; people depend on one another.”

In addition to the Moon, we also have the Sun, Mercury, and Venus in “other-oriented” Libra, with the Sun and Venus getting ready to close in on the “anaretic” or 29th degree of Libra, within the next 24 hours. When planets are nearing the end of a sign, they are thought to have more of an “urgent” quality about them. Also, it’s often a time when we feel compelled to take “sudden action” on a matter – with the action, in keeping, with the nature of the planet at the anaretic degree.

The “Sun” symbolizes power, status, and the ego; “Venus” rules relationships, beauty, fashion, values, and money. Libra is represented by the “scales of balance” (justice) and governs the courts, marriage, and partnerships, and symbolizes, among other things, diplomats, judges, and counselors.

It could be that with the Sun and Venus, anaretic in Libra, some last-minute efforts are made to appease or placate others now; or sudden action is taken to enlist the support of others toward a cause; or overtures may be undertaken to preserve or restore the peace and balance in a relationship or delicate situation.

Too, on a collective level, with Venus and the Sun nearing the anaretic degree, there is the very sad news that Oscar De La Renta, the iconic fashion designer – a “Libra” profession – has died at the age of 82.  De La Renta recently designed George Clooney’s bride Amal Alamuddin’s wedding gown and has dressed every first lady since Jackie Kennedy. De La Renta had his natal Sun in Cancer, at the anaretic “29 degree” mark, with the Sun in an “out-of-sign” conjunction to “stylistic” Venus in “glamorous” Leo. Sun-Venus aspects denote artistry and creativity, in general. De La Renta was also, reportedly, a huge supporter and patron of the arts.

Question for Today: Do you think clothes “make a person?”
