This second Saturday in June we are gifted with a Last Quarter Moon in contemplative Pisces (3:31 pm), which means that Luna is halfway between the last Full Moon and upcoming New Moon. The LQM is perceived to be an optimum time to retrieve the trusty scorecard, from out of our back packet, and evaluate our most recent spate of hits or misses, with an eye to moving on from what is deemed no longer achievable or practical. Likewise, this lunar phase is also regarded as an ideal period for looking ahead and crafting our intentions or goals for the next New Moon (which will be occurring in Gemini on June 18th).

Meanwhile, Luna in Pisces also suggests leaning more into our intuition now, or cranking up the volume on what our inner voice may be saying to us.

On This Day in History: On June 10, 1935, Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) was founded in Akron, Ohio by Bill Wilson and Robert Smith (known as Dr. Bob).  The organization, which is now worldwide, was created to help people struggling with alcoholism and to provide them a safe space to share their experiences and support each other.

Astrologically, that day, Saturn, often billed as “the taskmaster,” which teaches us the power of self-reliance and self-discipline, was in compassionate Pisces and applying (one-degree) to an exact opposition to Neptune in health-oriented Virgo; Neptune also signifies, among other things, drugs, alcohol, and addiction issues.

Oppositions tend to deliver results or may bring matters to a climax or culmination. Ideally, Saturn opposing Neptune serves to supply us with more determination or resolve to face down our fears or weaknesses; it may also usher in a greater reliance or receptivity to the idea of a higher power helping to see us through our difficulties.

Also, on that date, communicator Mercury was in sympathetic Cancer and exactly sextile to innovative, group-oriented Uranus in grounded Taurus, an aspect which can help to foster new insights or facilitate new approaches.

COSMIC WATCH:

The last Full Moon of the year is occurring today in the sign of “nesting” Cancer, at 7 degrees (5:21 am EST), putting a spotlight on home, family, and security concerns. With this Full Moon, we also have the chance to gain greater awareness of how our personal life (Cancer) impacts our professional life (Sun in Capricorn), and vice versa. We are also ideally seeking to achieve more of a harmonious balance now between these two realms. Something that is often quite challenging for us to do.

Too, with Full Moons signifying a time of release, it is likely that certain elements will need to exit our lives now in order to obtain what we want for ourselves. Additionally, this “phasing out” period may be even more noteworthy now, as this Full Moon opposes “purging” Pluto and squares radical, “change-agent” Uranus. Plus, we are at the end of another calendar year and are likely much more eager to want to put the past behind us now, so we can start out fresh in the new year.

Moon-Pluto can provide us with greater resolve to face or tackle some of our darker or more serious issues, the ones that we maybe have been avoiding for a while because we were perhaps fearful or unsure of how to deal with them. In some cases, too, we may be forced to deal with certain issues now whether we want to or not. Both Pluto and Uranus have been known to add a certain urgency to our affairs, especially if we have been resistant to dealing with things in the past.

Also, this lunation trines “responsible” Saturn and “wounded healer” Chiron, suggesting that we do have two old masters by our side to guide us now. Moon-Saturn particularly summoning up our own mature judgment and wisdom, culled from our unique blend of life experiences.
