COSMIC WEATHER:

The Communicative Gemini Moon is taking hits today from the likes of Pluto, Mars, the Sun, Venus, and Mercury. We’re feeling restless.  Talking too much. Gossiping.  We’re also hanging up on Telephone Solicitor Mercury, in Cleanly Virgo, who is calling us every five minutes to sell us janitorial services.

People in the News:

Actor George Clooney was honored Sunday night at the Emmy Awards with the “Bob Hope Humanitarian Award.”  The award  paid specific homage to Clooney’s telethon efforts to raise funds after September 11, Hurricane Katrina, and the Haiti earthquake. Clooney is only the fourth person to be honored with this award.

Clooney, born 5/6/61, an earthy Taurus, with a caring Pisces Ascendant, and a professionally ambitious Capricorn Moon, had the “Love and Attraction” planet, Venus, exactly sextile to his electrifying Uranus, in entertainment Leo, when he was bestowed the prestigious honor. Venus is specifically associated with honors and awards, while Uranus actually governs humanitarian efforts and noble causes for the collective. The ‘sextile’ aspect is usually deemed a favorable influence and signifier of opportunity.

Additionally, Venus-Uranus,  is a “mesmerizing romantic” influence that can make one “wildly popular.” Suffice it to say, with this aspect in effect, it is doubtful that George left the Emmy’s and went straight home afterwards to bake cookies by himself.

By the way, you may have noticed George with Elisabetta Canalis at the event, instead of me. In a matter of full disclosure: George did actually phone me several days ago, begging me to accompany him to the Emmy’s. Unfortunately, I had to decline his invitation.  Too much vacuuming to do.

Congratulations, George!  We’re happy for your being signaled out for this well-deserved recognition.

The Moon continues in moneybags Taurus, during the day, forming more challenging aspects to the lovebirds Venus and Mars in conjugal Libra and conniving Neptune in Aquarius. Later, the Moon will depart Taurus and enter Chatty Cathy Gemini (8:20 pm EDT). Once in Gemini, it will encounter a sanitizing Virgo Sun. The Virgo Sun is already putting the Gemini Moon on notice that anytime she utters a “dirty word,” the Sun will “wash its mouth out with soap.” Beware, Mel Gibson! 🙂

Moon continues in the Money and Procurement sign of Taurus.  It is getting besieged with irritating requests for financial aid from the likes of Uranus, Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn.

Meanwhile, the Sun and Mercury in Pristine Virgo are in a jolly mood disinfecting piggy banks and re-organizing wallets.

“With the Moon in the Money sign of Taurus, receiving detailed directives from the Cleanaholic Virgo Sun and Mercury, we are busy “laundering our money.” We are told that all the higher denominational bills must be carefully placed in the washing machine on the delicate cycle without bleach.  While the lower denominational bills can go through the normal/casual cycle. Unfortunately, we are having to clean all the coins by hand, which is a real pain. The fanatical Virgo Sun is also insisting that we clean and press all the “Monopoly Money” and also scrub down Boardwalk and Park Place.”

Moon vacates restless Aries for the stabilizing, calming pastures of Taurus (10:36 am EDT). The Taurus Moon forms a magical grand earth trine with transforming Pluto in ambitious Capricorn and the illuminating Sun in hard-working Virgo.

“The Universe is meting out to us some ‘cosmic rewards’ today for our recent, diligent efforts. The systematic Virgo Sun is also wanting us to select our rewards from the following three areas: 1) sex 2) chocolate 3) or what’s behind door number three.

We also have it from a very reliable source, that behind door number three, is either a 72-hour date with George Clooney or a 72-hour Alaskan fishing expedition with Sarah Palin. Unfortunately, if we select this third option, we will not know until after our selection is made whether we will be spending time with Clooney or Palin.

Also, if we go with the “sex” option, there is no additional information regarding who it is we will be having sex with, male or female. For that matter, it could theoretically involve having sex with even an inanimate object. Or, maybe with an alien creature from outer space, such as Mel Gibson.

Our safest bet, it appears, is to go with option number two. The chocolate. The sure thing.

For we all know that chocolate never lies to us. It also doesn’t swear, threaten, or womanize. It’s not afraid of commitment, or fulfilling its obligations.  There’s nothing fishy about it. Plus, it’s not obnoxious when poured on thick. And, best of all, it always gives the best kisses!”

The story of those thirty-three miners found alive but trapped, three weeks after a mine collapse near Copiapo, Chile, came to worldwide attention with Restrictive Saturn still in a tight square to Intense Pluto.

Pluto rules mines and miners, and also governs “extreme” conditions.  Saturn rules limiting, confining situations and hardships. Saturn square Pluto is often synonymous with a “severe test of faith” and circumstances seemingly “at their bleakest.”

The heartbreaking story of these miners shows us all how trying and desperate life can be at times. But, regardless of the situation, we must never give up hope. Our prayers are with these men and their families. And for a speedy resolution to this matter.

Moon’s in “Forget the Mind, Let’s Get Physical” Aries. The Sun and Mercury are in “Health-Conscious” Virgo and preaching to Venus and Mars, still conjoined in “Mating” Libra, about the hazards of engaging in sex before first taking capsules of cod liver oil.

In case you’re also wondering: Venus did get out of bed to go shopping yesterday, but with the arrival of the weekend, and the “I want sex, and I want it now!” Aries Moon, still hovering around, she has decided to position herself back under the bed sheets with Mars, with yet another promise from him, of more opportunities to purchase expensive jewels on his credit card again, in the near future.

“We’ve had a stressful week, and now that the weekend is here, we want to unwind. But the Aries Moon is also casting a decidedly “physical” tone to the day. It’s clamoring to us to engage our muscles and other body parts in an intimate workout. Preferably, too, with another human being, because “Love Diva” Venus and “Sex Pistol” Mars are still in Libra, the sign of “The Other.”

Mercury and the Sun in “Clinical” Virgo are also requesting that we do our best to engage in only “responsible, healthy sex” this weekend, so as not to overtax our systems. In other words, in between the passionate night moves, we’ll need to monitor and document our vital signs, such as our temperature, pulse rate, blood pressure. And, if need be, spray for germs.

Now we know why so many Virgos are still virgins!

If we have to go through all this stuff, each time, is it really worth it? Even with George Clooney?

You know what? This approach may be just what the doctor ordered!

The Contemplative but Fantasy Prone Pisces Moon is still burning gardenia incense (until 9:59 pm EDT) in a bid to keep the passionate desire going between Venus and Mars in Lover’s Lane Libra.

But things are also a little complicated on the romantic front because every few minutes the Cleanaholic Virgo Sun sticks his big head into the bedroom to remind everyone that there’s oodles of vacuuming to do.

The Virgo Sun’s trine to Deep Transforming Agent Pluto has him also believing that what is really needed here is some deep steam cleaning of all the carpets and upholstery.

The Moon enters Active Aries later in the day (10:49 pm EDT) at which time the pace quickens considerably. In fact, we get so carried away with the excitement of the raw energy that we start to even vacuum underneath the bed sheets, putting a big, golden smile on the Virgo Sun’s face, while simultaneously causing expletives and threats to spew out of our “formerly sleeping” partner’s mouth. And we’re not even in bed with Mel Gibson!

“We have some very cool, life-changing energy around us in the guise of the Sun in Employment Virgo trine to Potent Pluto in Career Capricorn.  Today could be one of those days in which we finally figure out or discover “our true calling” in life. It’s also a good time to apply or interview for a job, also realizing that stuff could get postponed etc, down the road, with the Mercury Retrograde in Virgo.

Also with the Mystical Pisces Moon and Past Life Pluto activated, this is a dynamite time for regression efforts. Or, for holding seances. Especially for channeling deceased politicians and bureaucrats with Pluto’s placement in governmental Capricorn. Perhaps, too, when the Moon enters Conquering Aries, we can try to connect with transitioned pioneers or former military leaders. I’m thinking maybe, General George Patton here? Or perhaps Genghis Khan?

If you also have any type of research to do, or better yet, spying to do, today is definitely the day to do it. Probably also superb for channeling former spies. Maybe “Maxwell Smart?”

In The News: A Sun-Pluto “spy story” for today.  The NYT.com is reporting that the aide to President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan, implicated in a corruption investigation, is actually being paid by our own Central Intelligence Agency.  Mohammed Zia Salehi, the chief of administration for the National Security Council, has apparently been on the CIA payroll for many years, although it is not known what his precise duties are. Pluto rules spies and espionage and when it’s ray is activated is often when we get “the real scoop” on things. It’s ray is activated today.

Moon enters Mystical Pisces (10:11 am EDT) with a Divine Full Moon also occurring in the sign (1:05 pm EDT) today.

Love Diva Venus and Sex Lord Mars are just about plum worn out in Honeymoon Libra, but with the arrival of the Fantasy Minded Pisces Moon, they gain a second wind and begin praying and chanting for the chance to spend a few more passionate nights together.

The Moon’s quinqunx to Stern Saturn in Marital Libra may throw in a monkey wrench here for Venus and Mars, however, unless sexual Pluto can convince the Moon to grant them an extension, via Pluto’s intimate, R-rated “sextile aspect” to the Moon.

Sun files into Studious, Dutiful Virgo (1:27 am EDT). Moon is in Scientific, Hi-Tech Aquarius. Love Goddess Venus and Sex Pistol Mars are holding on for dear life together in Mating Libra. The Leo Sun is catching some grief from Fashion Coordinator Mars in Libra because the Sun’s gold-colored tie is clashing with the variant gold tone hue of its sunspots (Sun semi-square Mars).

“The Sun enters Immaculate Virgo today, a sign known not only for its fortitude for cleaning, but also for its vast intelligence and book smarts. With the lovey-dovey, sex duo, Venus and Mars, still cooing with every breath, I’m thinking that it’s a grand time to dust off those fantasies about quiet librarians.

We need to drop by the public library and maybe hang out in the Aquarian Moon’s science and technology section. And brace ourselves for some page-turning moments, as we feel the heat coming off the books, and finally spy the “prim and proper” librarian, passionately fidgeting with her eyeglasses. OMG!!!

UPDATED NEWS: We earlier had reported here that the Van Gogh painting “Poppy Flowers” that was stolen on Friday from the Mahmoud Kahlil Museum, had been recovered by authorities late Saturday night at an airport in Cairo.  It appears now that the news report was flawed (Mercury retrograde?), and the painting is, unfortunately, still missing. So, Saturn and Pluto still have some more detective work to do together. But, guys, we all have complete confidence in the two of you still solving this case.

The painting disappeared with “Sun opposite Neptune,” a classic signature of thievery and deception.  Neptune rules paintings, and its ray is often prominent in art thefts. Saturn in Libra (the zodiacal sign also ruling fine art) was also exactly square Control Freak Pluto at the time, plus Mercury had just turned retrograde. My intial theory was that someone wanted the art for their own collection.

My fellow astrologer, Dipali Desai, on Twitter Saturday said that there was a good chance the thief (thieves) would be caught because of Saturn-Pluto.  Pluto is the Master Spy and Grand Detective and Saturn-Pluto can create transparency. The two are also superb at holding people accountable, so maybe the crime will get solved.

One news caption on this story is reading: “Confusion Grows Over Stolen Van Gogh painting.” It may be more accurate to title it: “Neptunian Confusion Grows Over Stolen Van Gogh Painting, Made Worse by Mercury Retrograde.”
