“I am realistic – I expect miracles.” Wayne Dyer

COSMIC WATCH:

Today’s “Sun trine Neptune” aspect can truly be very “inspiring” for us, if we let it. The word “inspiration” literally means to be in spirit. Neptune symbolizes “Spirit” or our connection with “The Infinite.” Ideally, Sun-Neptune makes us feel very much on purpose (Sun) with our Divine Roots (Neptune). Or, as Esther Hicks would say – speaking for Abraham – we are now aligned with “the Real You (Neptune) behind the you.” Granted, this is a short-term aspect that only lasts, a couple of days; but sometimes, it only takes one thought or idea, or a chance encounter, to turn a life around. Too, the Sun is in “transformative” Scorpio, in its trine to Neptune.

Wayne Dyer, who has perhaps written more books on self-development and spiritual growth than anyone else on the planet, including 20 New York Times bestsellers, fittingly, has his natal Sun in a very close trine to his natal Neptune,  suggesting that he is naturally more attuned to being “plugged into” Source Energy, or whatever you wish to call, our Higher Nature. In The Power of Intention, Wayne writes that one of his secrets for success and inner peace is to “treat yourself as if you already are what you’d like to become.” In other words, to begin with the end in mind.

The Sun-Neptune energy, today, also potentially helps all of us, at least temporarily, with this envisioning process, since Neptune governs our imagination and creativity, our inner artist. Sculptor and painter Michelangelo is another person who had his natal Sun closely trining Neptune. Also, remember what he said about the angel: “I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.” Today would be an excellent time to put together a “vision board,” or a collage of images, words, phrases that represents our self and our future. Also, highly recommended would be prayer or meditation, as a way of helping us to tune inward.

Possibly a “shadow side” to the Sun-Neptune influence, if there is one, might be to “over-imagine” or fall prey (Neptune) to worst case scenarios, especially with the Sun passing through “dark” Scorpio, the sign of extremes and crisis points. Specifically, what comes to mind here is the present-day concern over the ebola virus (Scorpio). Too, while there may be some fear (and ignorance) around this illness, a growing awareness of how best to deal with this issue, is evolving every day, and that is a very good thing. By the way, Scorpio is also the sign of medical research and breakthroughs.

Question for Today: What do you see for yourself when you begin with “the end” in mind?

In the News: Former beleaguered Mayor of Toronto Rob Ford wins a seat on the Toronto City Council.

Famous October 28 Birthdays: Bill Gates, Julia Roberts, Jonas Salk, Bruce Jenner

“I pictured myself as a virus or cancer cell and tried to sense what it would be like.” Jonas Salk, the medical researcher and virologist who discovered the first successful inactivated polio vaccine.

Enjoy your Tuesday!

“It will never rain roses: when we want to have more roses, we must plant more roses.” George Eliot

(Today, the “willful” Sun harmoniously trines “energetic” Mars, rooting us on to cross the finish line.)

Initiative (which is ruled by Mars) is a laudable quality to have. It’s also a marker of a “can-do spirit,” or someone who is not afraid to scurry forth against all odds. When we fully engage our initiative, and keep harnessing it and harnessing it, it can put us smack in the middle of our dreams. It’s also among one of the key factors that distinguishes those who achieve great things from those who don’t.

How might you employ extra initiative today?

COSMIC WATCH:

With the Moon’s entrance into “ambitious” Capricorn what adds to our sense of well-being now is feeling a sense of accomplishment, or perceiving that we are making headway towards whatever it is that we set out to do. Capricorn is also the sign that governs our career. “There is joy in work. There is no happiness except in the realization that we have accomplished something.” Henry Ford

A Moon-Neptune sextile (9:04 am EST) also potentially enhances our visioning ability, as Neptune rules our imagination. Too, once we have a clear vision of something, it is much easier for us to take action or develop a strategy to achieve that dream. It is like beginning at the end, which is really so much easier on us than heading out without a set destination in mind, as without a vision we are more likely to drift, which can end up being very energy draining.

We may also want to make sure that we have a “Plan B” option in place, this afternoon, just in case, as the Moon is squaring both Uranus (1:26 pm EST), planet of the unexpected, and Mercury, ruler of our reasoning. (4:53 pm EST). Rich opportunities, no doubt, for embracing flexibility and for developing our own reservoir of logic. “It is the mark of an educated man to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.” Aristotle.

Famous Birthdays March 15: Jimmy Swaggart, Judd Hirsch

What would be exciting for you to achieve today?

Keep in mind, too, that we still have that transformational “Grand Earth Trine” to tap into involving Mars, Jupiter, Venus and Pluto.

“At no time is freedom of speech more precious than when a man hits his thumb with a hammer.” Marshall Lumsden

Cosmic Word Of The Day: Gigantic

(Mercury square Jupiter. Total Lunar Eclipse. Winter Solstice. Sun enters Capricorn.)

Gigantic: 1) Very large, huge 2) of, like, or befitting a giant

Cosmic Weather:

Gigantic day unfolding in the cosmos!  We have the total lunar eclipse in “talk till you drop” Gemini. Sun is “born again” in the “baptismal waters” of the winter solstice.  Also, the Sun enters “achievement-minded” Capricorn. Moon also enters “raid the refrigerator” Cancer (4:22 am EST).

We additionally get to whip out the “biggest words” we know for retro Mercury in Sagittarius’s repeat “meet-up match” with “let’s stretch it to the max” Jupiter. Mercury rules words and aligned with expander Jupiter, they can easily become pompous dinosaurs. Designed to embellish and impress.

“Success in not measured by what you accomplish but by the opposition you have encountered, and the courage with which you have maintained the struggle against overwhelming odds.” Orison Swett Marden

It’s December 21st!

Time to find out what awaits us behind “door number ten” in the sizzling astrological “Game of Life.”

::Suspense builds::

Behind “door number ten” is: Capricorn the Goat!!!

Rats!!! Go figure. No offense to the cute goat, but we were really hoping for a new car! Or, maybe an “Oprah paid trip” to Australia, with hunk, Hugh Jackman, falling off the tightrope and into our laps. 🙂

Yes, indeed, the “life-generating” Sun, which signifies “our core” and “sense of purpose,” enters the tenth zodiacal sign of Capricorn the Goat on December 21, 2010 (6:39 pm EST), where it will ambitiously stay until January 20, 2011. The Sun’s annual passage through goal-oriented Capricorn marks a time when we are nobly poised to go out into the vast global village to achieve our glorious dreams that we so cleverly envisioned and crafted when the Sun was in the preceding sign of optimistic Sagittarius, the famous stomping grounds of the talented archer.

Sagittarius is ruled by benevolent, generous Jupiter, who also would have, no doubt, given us a plush car today, if only he had the cosmic authority to do so. But, Jupiter’s star has sadly dimmed now. He must reluctantly relinquish his mighty throne, and give ringmaster Saturn, his scheduled fifteen minutes.

It is true. The sign Capricorn is governed by focused, taskmaster Saturn, who is actually not totally opposed to our periodic dreaming and chilling out among the clouds, but he will eventually pitch a big frickin’ fit, and make us tragically suffer the consequences, if we don’t make any sustained effort to turn our Kool-aid dreams into reality, especially into hard cold cash. Saturn’s famous last words: “Show me the money, honey! If you can’t show me any money, you’re not getting any honey. You’ll just have to eke it out on Baltic Avenue, baby. You’re not getting anywhere near Boardwalk or Park Place, unless I see more toil and sweat from you. And, that’s that!”

Saturn-ruled Capricorn perennially symbolizes the “nose to the grindstone” experience, the exciting 9 to 5 “punch a clock” world, with all of its drama and politics. And, also all of its “golden opportunity.” At the end of the day, really what is more exciting than seeing our dreams materialize? Dressing them up in cool, shapely bodies. Choosing the color of their eyes. Applying their lashes. Doing their hair and makeup. Filling their little black books with hot dates.

So what are we going to build for the next 30 days that will ultimately enable us to get a cushy room with a view? Did everyone get it all figured out when the Sun was soaring through Sag? Yes??? No??? How about erecting some cool and unique structures that haven’t been built before? Or maybe we can just add neat variations on classic designs. Really no point in always re-inventing the wheel. Especially when we still have so much vacuuming to do, and mushy calls from George Clooney to field.

“George, it looks like we may have an open slot on December 27th, at 10:55 pm. Does that work for you, dear?”

“Empty pockets never held anyone back. Only empty heads and empty hearts can do that.” Norman Vincent Poole.

(Added Pink Floyd’s Money per blog reader Debbie G.’s cool suggestion. Thanks, Deb. Perfect fit for the Sun’s ingress into “jingle jingle” Capricorn.”)

“Life’s not always fair.  Sometimes you can get a splinter even sliding down a rainbow.” Terri Guillemets

Cosmic Word Of The Day: Saturnian

(Moon in Capricorn. Sun sextile Saturn. Moon square Saturn. Mars enters Capricorn.)

Saturnian: 1) of or pertaining to the planet Saturn 2) of or pertaining to the god “Saturn,” whose reign is referred to as the “golden age.”

“Well, unfortunately, the gig is up for many of us today.  It’s time to put away our coloring books and dump out the Kool-Aid and get serious about life.  There’s simply no escaping the clutches of Karma Lord Saturn, the Taskmaster, today. The old guy’s got his frickin’ fingerprints everywhere. What’s worse: He’s too cheap to paint his nails!

First, we have the Moon in Capricorn, Saturn’s sign. Then we have the Sun in Sagittarius sextile Saturn in Libra (3:01 am EST). Then sex pistol Mars attempts to enter or penetrate the “frigid waters” of Capricorn – and is shockingly successful at it (6:49 pm EST)! Lordy, lordy! Last, but not least, the Capricorn Moon squares Saturn (10:19 pm EST).

So, there you have it.  We have a Saturnian day to look forward to. Nose to the grindstone. Work, work, work, makes Jack a dull boy. Thanks to Saturn. No escape. No big hunk of cheese waiting for us. We’re not allowed to pass go or collect our $200. We’re barred from Boardwalk and Park Place. We’re trapped on Baltic Avenue. Saturn is squeezing out every last ounce of toil and sweat from us. And, the worst part of all: We don’t even have time to vacuum!” 🙂

“There is only one success – to be able to spend your life in your own way.” Christopher Morley

Cool day in the cosmos!

Saturn, which has been retrograde since January 13, stations direct today and will gradually start moving forward again. Saturn denotes hard work, responsibility, and all the corresponding structure that we erect in our lives as a result of our various sustained efforts.

Saturn’s forward momentum signals that we now have the green light to move ahead with our goals and dreams.  We may also start seeing some of our previous labors beginning to pay off for us. Saturn likes to reward us for our due diligence and simple day-to-day nose to the grindstone activities.

I thought the Christopher Morley quote for today was also very timely here because so often in life we choose to define our personal success in terms of other people’s definition of success for us. In the process, we tend to lose sight of what is in our heart.

Today, on this Saturn-themed day and also with the Moon in Capricorn, the sign that Saturn rules, it’s a good time to perform a “Saturn reality check and tune-up” and have an authentic dialogue with ourselves to make sure that we are indeed proceeding in the right direction in terms of advancing our soul’s sacred purpose.

If we are not, we should ask ourselves, why not?  What in the heck are we waiting for, more ideal conditions to manifest? We could spend the rest of our lives waiting for that to happen and in the mean time, life is passing us by.  Better to start from the point where we are at and then begin creating the circumstances that we want to see in our lives, don’t you think? Saturn stationing direct here, too, can greatly help to provide us with wisdom from our past experience, as we are capable of seeing things more clearly now and connecting the dots.

In sports:

The Phillies’ Roy Halladay pitched a perfect game yesterday!

When I heard about this, I immediately thought about Uranus, the “genius” planet, and its fresh ingress into Aries, the sign of sports and baseball. Could there be a connection?

Celebrity news:

“Screen rebel” Dennis Hopper died yesterday at the age of 74 after a prolonged illness. I personally will always remember him as the motorcycle riding, pot-smoking character in Easy Rider.  Hopper, however, had a bevy of gifts.  He was not only an actor and director, he was also an accomplished photographer, painter and sculptor.

Dennis Hopper was born 5/17/36.  He fittingly had imaginative Neptune at the very top of his chart near his career house.  Neptune rules all the creative areas that he ended up pursuing with respect to his career. His Taurus Sun also added to his artistic instincts and abilities. When I think of Taurus, too, I think of the great painter Pablo Picasso, who had in his horoscope, four planets conjunct in the sign of Taurus in his career house. Taurus is associated with things of beauty.

Hopper also had rebel Uranus in Taurus in his fifth house of self-expression.  Perhaps that is why he naturally resonated to a more defiant theme. Pioneering and aggressive Mars was also conjunct his Sun reinforcing this same bent and making him adventurous and impulsive as well.

Interestingly, Dennis Hopper’s horoscope is similar to Elvis Presley’s (a Capricorn) horoscope.  Elvis had Neptune at the top of his chart and Uranus in Aries exactly conjunct his fifth house of self-expression. Elvis, of course, revolutionized the music and entertainment industry, especially with his original and defiant onstage performances that were also very sexual (Aries) in nature. Neptune also rules music.

Both Dennis and Elvis additionally had Sagittarius Ascendants, making them very freedom-loving and also accentuating their Uranian need for spontaneous expression.

Neptune, which has to do with drugs, also stressfully squared each of their Ascendants (the Ascendant rules the body). Both had serious issues with drugs, using drugs as a form of escape or coping mechanism. Elvis actually died when the transiting Neptune was exactly conjunct his Ascendant. Drugs were implicated in his death and no doubt hastened his demise.

I am always looking for symbolic connections among the stars and events on earth, as I do feel we are all linked as one.  I did think it was very symbolic that Dennis Hopper died just as Rebellion Guru, Uranus, entered Aries, the sign of new beginnings, as he  personified so much the “do your own thing” Uranus in Aries spirit.

Too, while his life was never an easy ride, he seemed to have really lived an authentic life, one that was true to his soul’s purpose.  So, in that respect, he died a great success, don’t you think?

May you rest in peace, Dennis Hopper.

Enjoy your Sunday. Follow your heart. Live your dream.
