COSMIC WATCH:

“I see my path but I don’t know where it leads. Not knowing where I’m going, inspires me to travel it.” Rosalia de Castro

The Moon is in “roaming” Sagittarius all day, fueling our desire to want to explore open spaces and leave our magnificent mark on uncharted territory. This is perhaps especially the case, early on, when the Moon makes an opposition to energizing Mars in “restless sightseer” Gemini (7:56 am EDT) and then trines mental Mercury in “thinking big” on the wild prairie in Leo (8:21 am EDT). A day, too, when we are more likely to want to vigorously share our homespun views and massive insights about the “big picture,” as the Sadge Moon tends to incite an evangelistic thread in us. If we are also able to sell a little “snake oil” to fellow travelers on the mystical journey of life, so be it. 🙂

“Evangelism is selling a dream.” Guy Kawasaki

Do you feel comfortable in the “preacher” role? Do you have any planets in Sagittarius in your horoscope?

Famous People with Moon in Sagittarius: Charlie Sheen, Oprah Winfrey, Charles Dickens, Mariah Carey, Richard Gere, Vincent Van Gogh

BTW, today marks the first anniversary of the 164-year revolution of Neptune’s orbit around the Sun, since Neptune was discovered on September 23, 1846. (Would like to thank LillyRoddyShow@Twitter for this cool information.)

Enjoy your Tuesday!

Cosmic Word Of The Day: Crusade

(Moon enters Sagittarius)

Crusade:1) any vigorous, aggressive movement for the defense or advancement of an idea, cause, etc.

“The Moon wraps up her stay in probing Scorpio for the crusading terrain of Sagittarius (1:00 pm EST). With the Moon in Sag, we’re more inclined to be “on a mission,” to convert others to our way of thinking. Keep in mind, too, this perennially includes recruiting George Clooney as one of our disciples. A formidable task indeed, but one that’s definitely worth it. 🙂

“The triumphs of the Crusades were the triumphs of faith. But faith without wisdom is a dangerous thing.” Sir Steven Runcimam

Patricia’s Astrology: Mercury Square Jupiter November 25, 2010

Communicator and Idea Guru Mercury, in “talk till you drop” Sagittarius, forms an exact square to “windbag” Jupiter in “Please, will everyone just shut up and meditate instead!” Pisces on November 25, 2010 (9:19 am EST). This can be a psychologically exasperating influence for us to have to deal with, especially if we have to be around people who are blabbermouths anyway. “Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah…”

Plus this influence is exact on Thanksgiving Day, a time when we are already traditionally holed up with long-winded relatives for hours on end with no chance for a fast escape.

Mercury in Sag wants to “seek and spread the truth” and aligned with Preacher Jupiter, the ruler of Sagittarius, in delusional Pisces, we tend to go way overboard in this mission, to the point of heavy-duty fanaticism and even evangelizing the goldfish. So we definitely want to make sure that we avoid a discussion of, really, any “hot-button” topics at the Thanksgiving dinner table, i.e. religion or politics, or who really should be the next Queen of England. We would probably especially be wise to steer clear from talking about Sarah Palin and the Tea Party, or the matter of Nancy Pelosi‘s hair. Or who really should have won this year’s “Dancing With the Stars.” Lest we run the risk of all manner of mayhem ensuing and pumpkin pies being tossed in our faces and turkey drumsticks turning into homestead defense missiles.

We are also still in the aftermath of Mercury’s conjunction with warrior Mars in self-righteous Sagittarius and we have already seen what has happened on the world front in North Korea with this scary influence. Mercury conjunct Mars: “Yes, I believe it’s time to start a war!  Let me just push a few buttons here. Boy this is fun!” Right.

Additionally, Mercury square grandiose Jupiter glosses over details, exaggerates, and over-promises in its predisposition to focus on the “big picture.” But, when all is said and done, at the end of the day, Mercury-Jupiter can also be “a lot of fun” and “refreshingly optimistic.” There is more of a tendency towards laughter, and maybe cracking a few funny jokes with this aspect. And, to just look at life, and appreciate it, from a more “humorous” perspective. Jupiter does rule our “sense of humor.” Jupiter is also a “great storyteller,” especially when linked up with “wordsmith”  Mercury.

“Humor is mankind’s greatest blessing.” Mark Twain

Mars Conjunct Jupiter: Lincoln Delivers Gettysburg Address 11/19

This Date In History:

November 19, 1863:

U.S. President Abraham Lincoln delivers the “Gettysburg Address” at the dedication of the Soldiers’ National Cemetery in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The Gettysburg Address, of course, is regarded as one of the greatest speeches in American history. In the speech, Lincoln redefined the Civil War as a struggle that would bring about “a new birth of freedom” and “equality” to all Americans.

Fascinatingly, in the heavens that day, “Energizer” Mars and “Philosophical” Jupiter were exactly conjunct at 11 degrees of “Transforming” Scorpio. Jupiter symbolizes our moral convictions and philosophy of life. With Jupiter, we tend to look at the “bigger picture,” and how we all fit into it. Jupiter is regarded as benevolent and philanthropic in nature. It also rules politicians and public speaking.

Enthusiastic Mars, meanwhile, as ruler of Aries, the first sign of the zodiac, is very trailblazing and pioneering. It also is the planet of war (rules the aggressive urge), and signifies courage and bravery.

When we get Mars and Jupiter together, there is often an intense “zealousness,” a strong desire to “evangelize” or “convert” others to our way of thinking, our philosophy, as Mars “fires up” our beliefs and convictions (Jupiter). We passionately “go to battle” (Mars) for what we believe in (Jupiter).  Indeed, Mars-Jupiter is often indicative of “fanaticism” because it is linked with so much enthusiasm for our message and the causes we are espousing. Jupiter is characteristically “preachy” to begin with. It rules preachers and teachers, as part of its intrinsic “uplifting” nature.

Even though Pluto had not been “officially discovered” at the time, it was at 11 degrees of Taurus that day, which put it exactly opposite the Mars-Jupiter conjunction in Scorpio (Pluto now rules Scorpio).

Pluto denotes our “urge for regeneration,” or “rebirth,” and its energy and awareness tends to be very penetrating  and intense.  Pluto, in opposition to Mars-Jupiter, therefore, most likely served to magnify “even further” the passion and enthusiasm for renewal for the country that Lincoln must have been feeling that day delivering his speech. His message resonating at an optimum time for “mind altering impact” upon the public.

Pluto was also in Taurus which signifies “what we value,” and the Gettysburg Address was about learning to value “all Americans” as equals, a clear change from earlier consciousness (Pluto).

The Illuminating Sun and Mercury were also in Re-birthing Scorpio, and trine to the Compassionate Moon in Pisces, a Moon placement which inclines to make us more aware of our similarities versus our differences.  Pisces symbolizes our link “to the divine.” The Moon governs our emotions.  It also denotes “the public,” and again, with a Pisces Moon, there is more of an emotional receptivity and idealism regarding the “mood of the public.”

“Mental” Mercury conjuncts “Energy Planet” Mars on November 20, 2010 (1:53 pm EDT) at 17 degrees of Sagittarius. In general, whenever Mercury and Mars are together, regardless of zodiacal sign, we have much more “mental energy” at our disposal. Our “thought processes” are revved up and our communications more intense.

In fiery, freedom-loving Sagittarius, Mercury’s communication style is enthusiastic, optimistic, and typically more “direct and blunt.” There can also be more of an “extremism” in viewpoints. Plus, a tendency towards “long-windedness”  and “exaggeration” due to the expansive nature of this sign which is ruled by the planet Jupiter which tends to “oversize” everything, making all matters “larger than life.” Philosophical Jupiter’s influence, too, makes Mercury focus more on the “bigger picture” versus “laborious details” which restless Mercury in Sag has no patience for.

With Aggressive, Self-Centered Mars also “firing up” Mercury here, we have a notable tendency to get “carried away” with our ideas and thinking, and more opinionated, argumentative, and defensive (Mars). If we tend to be “manic” by nature, we become “hyper-manic” (Mars) now. We also are ready to proselytize and convert “everyone and anyone” to our way of thinking. Mercury conjunct Mars in in Sagittarius is intensely zealous.

“I think people talk too much anyway. Sometimes people are talking to me and in my mind I’m just like ‘shut up, shut up, shut up…blah blah blah blah blaaaaah.” Ellen DeGeneres
