“If you want something new, you have to stop doing something old.” Peter F. Drucker

COSMIC WATCH:

In theory, the idea of change can be very appealing to us. Especially the prospect of a fresh start. However, actually incorporating or implementing changes into our life, is where things can often get a bit tricky. That’s why behavioral experts normally suggest that we roll out lifestyle changes in small steps, over time. Kind of like sticking our toes in the water, before we go swimming; small steps can help us to get a real feel for the direction in which we’re heading, without causing us to initially experience all the overwhelm or pressure. Too, even with the small steps, though, experts say that we still need to be willing to tolerate a certain degree of discomfort, when it comes to making changes – like maybe giving up the daily chocolate bar, if we’re looking to fit into that bikini.

Today’s New Moon in “progressive” Aquarius, at 0 degrees (8:14 am EST), encourages us to set our monthly intentions around that big “C” word. Included here, we may want to think of ways that we can innovate, or express or ignite our originality and creativity. Also, because the brain loves questions, sometimes simply questioning the nature of things, can spawn new insights or possibilities, which can then pave the way for new beginnings, new methodologies, new practices, which can then also lead to a rough draft of a wonderful new you. For instance, I have personally gotten into the habit, before going to bed at night, of asking myself, “What have I learned today?” I have also found that, asking that one question, is a great way for me to “save my day,” in my memory bank, while also signalling to the subconscious that I value my life and daily experiences.

Because Aquarius also represents individual expression within the context of a group setting, or involvement with things that take us outside of our own personal sphere of interests, such as rallying for social causes, a New Moon here may serve to inspire us more towards activism, as well as, perhaps, giving us a desire to join clubs, civic groups, etc. Of course, we recently saw how the protest movement also picked up steam with Mars in Aquarius, a placement which can also makes us more psychologically comfortable with at least the idea of rebelling against the status quo, or the same ole, same ole. This lunation will likely build upon, or fortify, those efforts.

Today’s New Moon is also coinciding with the powerful Sun’s annual shift into “experimental” Aquarius, suggesting that there’s more of a potency about this lunation; perhaps, even more of a willingness to go out on a limb now, to tread the unknown. We may also have an intuitive sense that we’re really going to miss out on an adventure, if we don’t finally make the leap, with the Aquarian energy ratcheting up our inquisitive nature. A sextile from stabilizing Saturn in “futuristic” Sagittarius also supports us here and can help us approach change in a methodical manner.

“It’s impossible to be involved in all situations, but there’s no excuse not to be involved in something, somewhere, somehow, with someone. Make an ounce of difference.” Richelle E. Goodrich.

Question for Today: What is a change that is long overdue for you? Also, what do you think the delay has been about?
