Virgo Sun Opposes Neptune Rx in Pisces (5:21 am) – While it can be both noble and useful to imagine a better place and a brighter world, there’s also often great utility in simply trusting people, situations, and things to be or remain exactly as they are or always have been, based upon their history. This Sun-Neptune aspect has a tendency to lead us to believe that how we would like things to be is really the deal. In other words, the line between reality and illusion/wishful thinking may be a bit blurred now, so we should act accordingly, perhaps suspending final judgment until all the facts are in and all the deeds have been done. In other instances, this influence can correlate with a dissolving, destabilizing, or unraveling of the ego or of power structures (sometimes due to scandal). There can also be a strong desire to be of service to others or to engage in acts of charity, selflessness, or compassion.
Energizing Mars also exits Virgo tonight for diplomatic, Venus-ruled Libra (8:14 pm). While assertive Mars is not necessarily a happy camper in Libra, and is deemed to be in its detriment here (opposite its home sign of Aries), it can be a favorable placement for garnering cooperation or consensus building. A shadow side of Mars here, in the sign of the scales, can be a tendency towards ambivalence or wavering.
The Waxing Moon also shifts from Sadge into pragmatic, professionally ambitious Capricorn today (7:34 am).

On This Day in History: On September 14, 1901, U.S. President William McKinley dies after being shot on September 6 by anarchist Leon Czolgosz and is succeeded by Vice President Theodore Roosevelt. (Wikipedia)
Astrological highlights, on 9/14/01: the authoritative Sun was conjunct Karma Lord Saturn, in worldly Capricorn, often a more somber influence, which can suggest a time of loss or a change of power. Pioneering Mars in filtering Virgo was also separating from an exact trine to the Capricorn Sun, helping, perhaps, to facilitate the flow or transfer of presidential duties.
“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” Theodore Roosevelt

The illuminating, ego-conscious Sun in fastidious, bow-tied Virgo is forming its annual opposition to the grandest of all planetary disappearing acts: the visionary, trident-bearing Neptune, otherwise known as ‘the Great Dissolver,’ in selfless, oceanic Pisces (3:23 am), where the million-dollar views are, at best, blurred or obscured, and leaving virtually everything up to the imagination.
Suffice it to say, today may not be the best time to launch a full-scale fishing expedition for the facts or truth, unless we have plenty of time, perhaps, to play hide and seek. No, today we may be better off focusing our efforts on reeling in a whale of fantasy instead of channeling our inner Joe Friday. On the plus side, Sun-Neptune can be a very creative or inspired period.
On another level, the idealizing Sun-Neptune energy can also enjoin us with situations, people, or circumstances in which our caring or compassion is invoked; a time when our sense of oneness or communion, with what surrounds us, begins to seep through and delicately show itself.
“They both listened silently to the water, which to them was not just water, but the voice of life, the voice of Being, the voice of perpetual Becoming.” Herman Hesse, Sidhartha
Additionally today, the Moon is in progressive Aquarius so there can also be a yen for whatever is novel or new.
Favored activities today: Hiding our ego under a bushel basket; going fishing for our soul; paying it forward or performing acts of kindness; resting, relaxing, meditating; dancing; following our dreams; paying attention to synchronicities; deciphering the hidden meaning of cloud formatiions.

On This Day in History: On September 10, 1953, Swanson’s sell its first “TV dinner.” Astrologically, in the sky, that day, newsmaker Mercury in digesting Virgo was forming a waxing sextile to technology wiz kid Uranus in foodie Cancer. (Uranus also rules TV!)

“Analysis kills spontaneity. The grain once ground into flour springs and germinates no more.” Henri Frederic Amiel
Sun files into Studious, Dutiful Virgo (1:27 am EDT). Moon is in Scientific, Hi-Tech Aquarius. Love Goddess Venus and Sex Pistol Mars are holding on for dear life together in Mating Libra. The Leo Sun is catching some grief from Fashion Coordinator Mars in Libra because the Sun’s gold-colored tie is clashing with the variant gold tone hue of its sunspots (Sun semi-square Mars).
“The Sun enters Immaculate Virgo today, a sign known not only for its fortitude for cleaning, but also for its vast intelligence and book smarts. With the lovey-dovey, sex duo, Venus and Mars, still cooing with every breath, I’m thinking that it’s a grand time to dust off those fantasies about quiet librarians.
We need to drop by the public library and maybe hang out in the Aquarian Moon’s science and technology section. And brace ourselves for some page-turning moments, as we feel the heat coming off the books, and finally spy the “prim and proper” librarian, passionately fidgeting with her eyeglasses. OMG!!!
UPDATED NEWS: We earlier had reported here that the Van Gogh painting “Poppy Flowers” that was stolen on Friday from the Mahmoud Kahlil Museum, had been recovered by authorities late Saturday night at an airport in Cairo. It appears now that the news report was flawed (Mercury retrograde?), and the painting is, unfortunately, still missing. So, Saturn and Pluto still have some more detective work to do together. But, guys, we all have complete confidence in the two of you still solving this case.
The painting disappeared with “Sun opposite Neptune,” a classic signature of thievery and deception. Neptune rules paintings, and its ray is often prominent in art thefts. Saturn in Libra (the zodiacal sign also ruling fine art) was also exactly square Control Freak Pluto at the time, plus Mercury had just turned retrograde. My intial theory was that someone wanted the art for their own collection.
My fellow astrologer, Dipali Desai, on Twitter Saturday said that there was a good chance the thief (thieves) would be caught because of Saturn-Pluto. Pluto is the Master Spy and Grand Detective and Saturn-Pluto can create transparency. The two are also superb at holding people accountable, so maybe the crime will get solved.
One news caption on this story is reading: “Confusion Grows Over Stolen Van Gogh painting.” It may be more accurate to title it: “Neptunian Confusion Grows Over Stolen Van Gogh Painting, Made Worse by Mercury Retrograde.”

“Sexiness wears thin after a while and beauty fades, but to be married to a man who makes you laugh every day, ah, now that’s a real treat.” Joanne Woodward.
Keep those telescopes and binoculars handy for at least a couple more days. Venus and Mars are still coupling in Conjugal Libra above and Neptune and the Sun are still serving drinks to the rest of the planets, via their waning opposition to each other. Too, with the Moon in Hippie Aquarius now, the activities above could grow to include a measure of “collective free love” and the creation of more “hippie communes.”
Always thirsty Jupiter is certainly pleased that Uranus is back in liquor-friendly Pisces because now he has a special pipeline to the alcohol, since they are both technically still in a conjoined position with each other, which even though it does sound a little kinky, it’s actually a very spiritual alignment, producing a deep, existential awareness of the galactic condition, particularly after downing a few pina coladas.
While all this stuff is happening around us, the steamy sex in the sky, and hopefully a lot of sex and smooching going on down below in your household, too, yours truly is still saving herself exclusively for George Clooney, who continues to be a no-show, despite the fact that the two of us actually share the same brain. This is true.
See, George and I both have our Mental Mercurys at 20 degrees of Taurus, which means that we are both joined at the head. I guess I’ll settle for what I can get, but I do think it would also be fun to be conjoined somewhere else with George. Especially now with all this passionate Venus Mars action going on.
George, George, George. What the heck am I gonna do with you? Huh? Eluding me for so long. Another Saturday night has come and gone, George. Another tragic, wasted night of opportunity for the two of us, has passed us by. All I can say is, it’s a good thing that I at least have a telescope and am able to observe, albeit remotely, some measure of passion among the stars. Vicarious thrills, George. I know, it’s sad. Very sad. But, George, it’s all that I got. But know in my heart, George, that I do long for the real thing with you.
In the News: It appears that Form-Builder Saturn’s entrance into the “Balancing Scales” of Libra is coinciding with the generation of more attempts at diplomacy, an area that Libra naturally rules. So the pendulum seems to be moving the other way now, away from confrontation and violence, to attempts at peace, which is very interesting.
Saturn’s inclusion in the “Cardinal T-Cross,” too, with Transforming Pluto and Expansive Jupiter, can have the sum total affect of redefining the playing field of the scheme of things. Of course, we are referring here to “attempts at peace.” Whether peace will manifest and be long-lasting, is another question. Too, there is still unchecked violence occurring around the world, on a daily basis, but what may be refreshing here is at least there seems to be more of a “consciousness of the need for peace,” which is at least a start in the right direction.
Cardinal energy always equates to the “taking of action,” particularly with a T-Cross occurring in the Cardinal signs now. We had the last U.S. combat troops leave Iraq this week and now there is also word that Israelis and Palestinians have agreed to resume peace talks on September 2nd.
Did think it was really fascinating, too, that the U.S. combat troops exited Iraq with the spacier “Mars-Neptune” aspect (135 degrees) and the applying, hazy “Sun-Neptune” opposition, a similar energy. Mars rules aggression. Neptune, known as the Great Dissolver, can mitigate the aggressive impulses. Neptune, I guess, could equate here with a “surrendering up of the aggressive inklings,” with the simultaneous nebulous notion, or maybe it is best to be viewed, as a hopeful notion, depending on how you look at it, that “everything is also okay.”
Neptune tends to make us wax idealistic and dreamy. It can also be a deceptive and traitorous aspect, however. Traitorous to our own logic and reasoning. With Neptune’s ray, we often get wrapped up in a cozy cocoon with our delusional thoughts, thinking things are fine when in reality they are not. Hopefully, though, things will turn out okay here regarding this matter. Our combat troops in Iraq deserve to be home after doing a valiant job for us over there, even though our reasons for being in Iraq were not always that clear to many of us and it seems that we got mired in there under an umbrella of confusion and erroneous beliefs about weapons of mass destruction. The U.S. entered Iraq just as Rebel Uranus entered Obscure Pisces.
Also, there was a report out on Friday that stated that scientists have concluded that the Universe “may expand forever.” Apparently, though, that prospect is not necessarily a good thing, supposedly, as it is theorized then that the Universe will likely become a “cold, dead cosmic wasteland.”
I’m not quite sure what to make of this newest information other than to pine about the fact that we do reside in a “pretty weird, spooky place” when you really think about it. At the end of the day, though, I figure that somebody, somewhere, has surely got to be looking out for us. At least, we can continue to hope that this is the case.
The Cardinal T-Cross may have also played a role here with the release of this new information about our happy home. Cardinal energy is all about discovery and Jupiter is in New Frontiers Aries, and still conjoined with scientific Uranus, even though Uranus is back into its “inebriated state” in mystical Pisces. Jupiter-Uranus has historically been equated with breakthrough discoveries and advances in science. Uranus is also associated with outer space.

“To hear many religious people talk, one would think God created the torso, head, legs and arms, but the devil slapped on the genitals.” Don Schrader
It’s Day Two of the “Sober” Capricorn Moon. The Moon, however, is finding it increasingly difficult to stay sober due to the pull of the “Pleasure-Seeking” Leo Sun’s exact opposition to “Alcohol-Minded” Neptune hanging around in “Questionable Friends” Aquarius.
Also, “Love Maven” Venus is exactly conjunct “Sex Kingpin” Mars in “Merging” Libra.
Lest anyone forget, we’re also in day 39,355, or so it seems, of the Cardinal T-Cross involving the usual suspects: Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto.
Additionally, the wicked Universe is throwing in the destabilizing communication factor of “Mental” Mercury stationing retrograde in “Logical” Virgo today. Mercury stays retrograde until September 12.
The usual “retrograde protocol” applies here: Do stuff with the “re” prefix. Re-evaluate, re-interpret, re-view, re-stock the liquor shelf. Especially re-check and re-confirm travel plans. If you cannot postpone signing contracts until after the retrograde period, go through them with a fine tooth comb, before adding your official John or Mary Doe to the dotted line.
“We’re still in the throws of the galvanizing Cardinal T-Cross, however, the Universe has now temporarily suspended the functioning of all of our mental faculties to deal with it, with the addition of Retrograde Mercury to the mix.
Meanwhile, the “Rock and Roll” Leo Sun’s opposition to “Delusional” Neptune has us all thinking we could be big rock stars, if only Simon Cowell would have the common decency and courtesy of returning our phone calls and text messages.
All is not lost, though. The Universe is also delivering up for us, just in time for the weekend, the perennially sexy, “Venus-Mars” conjunction. Which means that many of us will be thinking about much more than just ironing the next couple days.”
