“A conservative is a liberal who got mugged the night before.” Frank Rizzo

COSMIC WEATHER:

It’s day two of the stable, practical, high-caloric Taurus Moon. With the Moon here in the sign of money and possessions, we want our cake and expect to eat it, too. Taurus is all about enjoying creature comforts while simultaneously building up a cushy little nest egg. We are not really into doing anything that will jeopardize our security.

HOWEVER, with that said, we also are presently grappling with the powering Sun, mental Mercury, assertive Mars, and delusional Neptune in idealistic, freedom-loving, “power-to-the-people” Aquarius. We also have expansive Jupiter in pioneering Aries manically out on the prairie in a covered wagon. The compilation of all these cosmic elements may force the Taurus Moon a bit out of her traditional comfort zone today and may spell disaster for us if we think we can just idly chill out on the couch watching the boob tube. It’s likely not going to happen, bro. Instead, we may be pressured to incorporate some wicked elements of “change,” or at least some measure of “conservative action” into our daily agendas, compliments of a schizoid universe. 🙂

Coincidentally, today is also the opening day of the “Conservative Political Action Conference” (CPAC) which is being held in Washington, DC February 10-12. Kind of an appropriate “synchronistic” tie-in for the current celestial happenings.

Famous Birthdays February 10th: George Stephanopoulos (50), Glenn Beck (47), Robert Wagner (81)

“Good for you, you have a heart, you can be a liberal. Now, couple your heart with your brain, and you can be a conservative.” Glenn Beck

“Success in not measured by what you accomplish but by the opposition you have encountered, and the courage with which you have maintained the struggle against overwhelming odds.” Orison Swett Marden

It’s December 21st!

Time to find out what awaits us behind “door number ten” in the sizzling astrological “Game of Life.”

::Suspense builds::

Behind “door number ten” is: Capricorn the Goat!!!

Rats!!! Go figure. No offense to the cute goat, but we were really hoping for a new car! Or, maybe an “Oprah paid trip” to Australia, with hunk, Hugh Jackman, falling off the tightrope and into our laps. 🙂

Yes, indeed, the “life-generating” Sun, which signifies “our core” and “sense of purpose,” enters the tenth zodiacal sign of Capricorn the Goat on December 21, 2010 (6:39 pm EST), where it will ambitiously stay until January 20, 2011. The Sun’s annual passage through goal-oriented Capricorn marks a time when we are nobly poised to go out into the vast global village to achieve our glorious dreams that we so cleverly envisioned and crafted when the Sun was in the preceding sign of optimistic Sagittarius, the famous stomping grounds of the talented archer.

Sagittarius is ruled by benevolent, generous Jupiter, who also would have, no doubt, given us a plush car today, if only he had the cosmic authority to do so. But, Jupiter’s star has sadly dimmed now. He must reluctantly relinquish his mighty throne, and give ringmaster Saturn, his scheduled fifteen minutes.

It is true. The sign Capricorn is governed by focused, taskmaster Saturn, who is actually not totally opposed to our periodic dreaming and chilling out among the clouds, but he will eventually pitch a big frickin’ fit, and make us tragically suffer the consequences, if we don’t make any sustained effort to turn our Kool-aid dreams into reality, especially into hard cold cash. Saturn’s famous last words: “Show me the money, honey! If you can’t show me any money, you’re not getting any honey. You’ll just have to eke it out on Baltic Avenue, baby. You’re not getting anywhere near Boardwalk or Park Place, unless I see more toil and sweat from you. And, that’s that!”

Saturn-ruled Capricorn perennially symbolizes the “nose to the grindstone” experience, the exciting 9 to 5 “punch a clock” world, with all of its drama and politics. And, also all of its “golden opportunity.” At the end of the day, really what is more exciting than seeing our dreams materialize? Dressing them up in cool, shapely bodies. Choosing the color of their eyes. Applying their lashes. Doing their hair and makeup. Filling their little black books with hot dates.

So what are we going to build for the next 30 days that will ultimately enable us to get a cushy room with a view? Did everyone get it all figured out when the Sun was soaring through Sag? Yes??? No??? How about erecting some cool and unique structures that haven’t been built before? Or maybe we can just add neat variations on classic designs. Really no point in always re-inventing the wheel. Especially when we still have so much vacuuming to do, and mushy calls from George Clooney to field.

“George, it looks like we may have an open slot on December 27th, at 10:55 pm. Does that work for you, dear?”

“Empty pockets never held anyone back. Only empty heads and empty hearts can do that.” Norman Vincent Poole.

(Added Pink Floyd’s Money per blog reader Debbie G.’s cool suggestion. Thanks, Deb. Perfect fit for the Sun’s ingress into “jingle jingle” Capricorn.”)

“Life’s not always fair.  Sometimes you can get a splinter even sliding down a rainbow.” Terri Guillemets

Cosmic Word Of The Day: Saturnian

(Moon in Capricorn. Sun sextile Saturn. Moon square Saturn. Mars enters Capricorn.)

Saturnian: 1) of or pertaining to the planet Saturn 2) of or pertaining to the god “Saturn,” whose reign is referred to as the “golden age.”

“Well, unfortunately, the gig is up for many of us today.  It’s time to put away our coloring books and dump out the Kool-Aid and get serious about life.  There’s simply no escaping the clutches of Karma Lord Saturn, the Taskmaster, today. The old guy’s got his frickin’ fingerprints everywhere. What’s worse: He’s too cheap to paint his nails!

First, we have the Moon in Capricorn, Saturn’s sign. Then we have the Sun in Sagittarius sextile Saturn in Libra (3:01 am EST). Then sex pistol Mars attempts to enter or penetrate the “frigid waters” of Capricorn – and is shockingly successful at it (6:49 pm EST)! Lordy, lordy! Last, but not least, the Capricorn Moon squares Saturn (10:19 pm EST).

So, there you have it.  We have a Saturnian day to look forward to. Nose to the grindstone. Work, work, work, makes Jack a dull boy. Thanks to Saturn. No escape. No big hunk of cheese waiting for us. We’re not allowed to pass go or collect our $200. We’re barred from Boardwalk and Park Place. We’re trapped on Baltic Avenue. Saturn is squeezing out every last ounce of toil and sweat from us. And, the worst part of all: We don’t even have time to vacuum!” 🙂

COSMIC WORD OF THE DAY: Rev

(Moon square Jupiter and Uranus; Moon conjunct Mars)

Rev: 1) to accelerate sharply the speed of (an engine or the like)

“The Moon’s journey through far-reaching Sagittarius has us operating at an enthusiastic, revved up speed today.

Aspects to preachy Jupiter (7:28 am EST), erratic Uranus (12:14 pm EST), and self-willed Mars (4:47 pm EST) , however, could make us overreach or overstep our boundaries.

We do regain an appreciation of all things practical, however, and quickly put our foot on the brakes, when the Moon takes up residency in time-tested, nuts and bolts Capricorn (6:17 pm EST). A good period to hone in on our professional ambitions.

Meanwhile, the illuminating Sun in Sagittarius makes a quintile aspect to mystical Neptune today, augmenting our spiritual sensitivity and consciousness, and deliciously stoking our imagination.

Full Moon In Taurus November 21, 2010

With the Full Moon in “Grounded” Taurus (12:28 pm EST) on Sunday, our focus shifts to more practical concerns. Taurus, the sign of money and possessions, characteristically goads us on to seek sustenance and refuge in “all things material.” Perhaps this Full Moon placement will work out to be a nice sales primer for retail merchants this holiday shopping season.

The Moon in “Venus-ruled” Taurus can also be very “self-indulgent” and “pleasure-seeking.”  So, with the Full Moon here we may want to engage in some “self-pampering.” Possibly unwinding with a full body massage. Feasting on decadent, dark chocolate.

Too, this Taurus Full Moon is aligned with “Fantasy” Neptune which can make us long for things and experiences that are glittery and glamorous, no matter if they are only “make believe.”

It could be that how this all plays out is, when we are out and about doing our holiday shopping, we may suddenly have a “fanciful urge” to dial up George Clooney (who, by the way, is a Taurus), and invite him over to our heavenly pad for hot chocolate and gingerbread cookies during the midnight hour. 🙂

Or, maybe outside of Macy’s, when we look up in the sky, Darling George will be there, dressed up as Santa Claus, beckoning us to join him for a jolly sleigh ride among the clouds. How can we resist?

Or, maybe some of us will sit on that other Santa’s lap at Macy’s, and lovingly whisper in his ear (while also bribing him with a $20 bill), that we would really like for him to put George Clooney, unwrapped, for quick assembly, under our Holiday Tree.

Yes, a girl’s gotta’ dream! Especially with wicked, seductive Neptune deliciously prompting us now, and the “Earthy” and “Sensual” Taurus Full Moon penetrating our vulnerable, delicate psyches. Plus, “Love Goddess” Venus is direct again now in Romantic Libra and also trine “Imaginary Lover” Neptune. We can’t miss!

“George, George, George. Don’t despair. We will be with you shortly. To emotionally rescue you under the safe haven of the merry mistletoe. Try to hang in there, my friend.”

“What does mysticism really mean?  It means the way to attain knowledge.  It’s close to philosophy, except in philosophy you go horizontally while in mysticism you go vertically.” Elie Wiesel

Neptune, the mystical planet that is associated with meditation, psychic development, and higher consciousness, turns retrograde today and stays that way till November 6th.

Neptune often communicates with us in the still of night through our dreams.  We may want to pay closer attention to our dreams now and see what kind of symbolic information we are receiving there.

I think many of us are often confused or scared by Neptune because of its more nebulous nature and its more idealistic impulses.  It often has us believing in fairy tales and in things that simply do not make sense to our logical, left-brain way of thinking.

Neptune, however, can be very cool and inspirational. Under it’s ray we are usually much more creative and imaginative, as well as psychic and spiritual. Neptune is an entirely right-brain experience but we usually need to use the left side of our brain in decoding or figuring out Neptune’s messages.

I am wondering, too, if Neptune’s retrograde motion will have any impact on the oil spill in the Gulf Coast, as Neptune rules both the sea and oil? It seems that it would. I am also hoping that Saturn’s resumption of direct motion will maybe help out here in the form of a workable solution to what has now become the worst oil spill in U.S. history.

The Moon, meanwhile, continues along her course in practical Capricorn, definitely a grounding energy and antidote to the spacier retrograde Neptune. I don’t know about you, but ever since the Moon entered purposeful Capricorn Saturday afternoon, I have gotten a lot of stuff accomplished that I needed to get done.

Too, with Saturn stationing direct, I believe it is a good time for all of us to get more focused and organized.

“I never see what has been done; I only see what remains to be done.” Marie Curie

Events on history on this date:

On May 31, 2005 Watergate figure “Deep Throat” is revealed to be W. Mark Felt a former FBI agent.  In the stars that day, the transiting Sun was in the news and communication sign of Gemini exactly square to erratic Uranus in Pisces.

Uranus is associated with breakthrough discoveries as well as sudden twists and turns.  Pisces also governs illusion and deception. The  electrifying Sun-Uranus energy was, therefore, a fitting backdrop to crack this mystery.

Also assisting here, transiting Mars in Pisces was one degree from an exact square to Pluto in Sagittarius.  Mars busts people and solves crimes, while Pluto oversees spies and espionage and the divulging of secrets.

May 31 birthdays: Brooke Shields, Clint Eastwood, Joe Namath.

Enjoy your Memorial Day. Pray for our soldiers and their families.

“Pleasure is the object, duty and the goal of all rational creatures.” Voltaire.

We are moving along but at a slower, more leisurely pace. Our need for adventure is coupled with a good measure of common sense and caution as the Moon cavorts through practical, yet self-indulgent Taurus.  This is an ideal time for evaluating the pros and cons of our new plans and for calculating costs, budgetary matters.

We are also weighing the itinerary of perks available to us if we expend energy in a new direction. For instance, will we still have time for a peaceful stroll in the park? What about being able to fit in time for a facial and foot massage?

An ocean of opportunity may be in front of us. On the surface, that sounds cool. But, logistically, if we go swimming in it, will we be able to make it back home in time for dinner? Also, what about the water temperature? We can’t go out if the water is too cold.

The longer we mull everything over, it may actually make more sense for us to go sailing instead of swimming. That way, we can conserve our physical energies.  Too, we’ll be able to eat while we’re exploring.  We may even be able to fit in a rejuvenating nap.

We could even wait until the Moon gets into Gemini before venturing out.  With Venus and Mercury both getting ready to join the Moon soon, it may be more fun to have a beach party now.

Memorable event in history on this date: April 15, 1985 – South Africa decides to repeal sex and marriage laws against whites and non-whites. At the time, expansive Jupiter was transiting humanitarian Aquarius, elevating the collective understanding and broadening capacity for diversity and tolerance. Also, the trail-blazing Aries Sun was exactly quinqunx Saturn in Scorpio.  The quinqunx is an adjustment aspect. Saturn in Scorpio suggests blockages or restraints regarding sex.  The precedent-setting Sun here successfully forced fearful Saturn in Scorpio to get out of its comfort zone and venture out into a new arena.
