COSMIC WATCH:
“The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak.” Hans Hofman
Today’s Full Moon in practical, down-to-earth Taurus (3:49 pm EDT) makes a case for simplifying our lives and, correspondingly, conserving our energy and resources. Included here might be the issue of time and how we are managing it. Many of us often feel like we don’t have enough time to do all the things we want. Yet, few of us ever bother to take the time to thoroughly comb through our daily calendar to see what elements that we may be able to eliminate, or at least pare down, thereby freeing ourselves for more of the things we want.
Now is an especially good time to attend to this endeavor because the Taurus Full Moon is opposing Saturn, the planet billed as “Father Time.” Saturn’s activated ray is also linked with effectively using our resources in the most efficient manner possible. (Sometimes, too, with Saturn, we become more aware of limited resources and the consequences of shortages.)
Also, becoming more mindful of how we are allocating our time is an excellent way to get really honest with ourselves and our intentions. What is meant here is that sometimes we use activity as a self-sabotaging tool of denial. It’s a way to avoid doing something that we would prefer not to face. The thing is, our subconscious most likely knows what’s really going on here, so all we are doing is setting ourselves up for eventual defeat, and probably draining ourselves of precious energy in the process.
This Full Moon is also sextiling healing and regenerating Pluto, the symbolic ruler of our subconscious, suggesting that we have great potential now for being able to successfully introduce and integrate into our consciousness some of the hidden desires or secret motivations that have been perhaps driving our behavior, from below the threshold of our awareness.
Of course, with the Taurus Full Moon that means that the illuminating Sun is also in Scorpio, the sign that Pluto rules. The Sun’s passage through transformational Scorpio also activating the more complex themes of death and rebirth, procreation, crisis management, and shared resources. We are learning to balance more of these complicated areas alongside simpler pleasures and more basic needs now (Taurus).
Just prior to the Full Moon today, Mercury, governing communication and transportation, also shifts into philosophical Sagittarius and then exactly squares elusive Neptune. Neptune also happens to be the planetary ruler of hurricanes. Unfortunately, hurricane Sandy is a top story in the news (Mercury) now and the foremost topic on many of our minds. Hoping that everyone being impacted by this monster storm will make it through it safe and warm. With Mercury-Neptune, too, everyone would be wise to heed all warnings and not substitute wishful thinking (Neptune) for facts or logic (Mercury). Also, to possibly stay off the roads (Mercury) in storm-affected areas.
Full Moon in Taurus activities: Self-pampering and beauty treatments; attending artistic or cultural events; obtaining financial advice; attending to matters involving possessions; communing with nature; gardening; letting go of what no longer provides us with a sense of security or safety; getting more clear about what it is that we value and want in our lives.
Full Moon Blessings!
