Cosmic Weather:

While intellectual Mercury’s opposition to erratic Uranus may make it a bit more difficult for us to concentrate or focus our brilliant attention today (4:55 pm EDT), we may be able to score at least a few bonus points with respect to suddenly being able to see things/elements in a whole brand new light – which could then conceivably go a long way in helping us to dispel, perhaps, some of our more rigid, outworn, or erroneous views or narratives, as well as to maybe help us to creatively problem-solve…

Of course, there’s also a chance that these fresh new insights could deliver up sort of a mental jolt that leaves us kind of clueless or scratching our heads about what to do next, as we may be unable to mentally process matters in a timely, semi-intelligible fashion, due to the very rapid nature at which thoughts, ideas, and messages are bombarding us now…

Fortunately, though, today’s scintillating Mercury-Uranus opposition is just at the very first phase or go-round, so we may not necessarily have to come to any conclusive or far-reaching decisions now, thanks, in part, to Mercury’s upcoming retrograde cycle – which means we may get to go through this whole, glorious, divine cognitive excursion at least two more times (on October 19th and November 17th) when more information, puzzle pieces, or follow-up may come to the forefront of our ever-delicate psyches.

Too, with Mercury surreptitiously holding up in probing Scorpio and Pluto (Scorpio’s ruler) stationing direct, just last Sunday, it could be that we are also privy, today, to eye-opening results of long-term investigations – especially with the Moon darting through blabbermouth, news reporter Gemini! 🙂

All in all, a very good day to be led by our insatiable curiosity and to welcome or entertain unconventional or even radical approaches to old problems – even if we decide, in the end, to maybe, temporarily, stay the course.

“Why is it that when one man builds a wall, the next man immediately needs to know what’s on the other side?” George R. R. Martin, A Game of Thrones

Tarot Card for the Day: The Ten of Swords, which suggests that something is coming to a head or finale. Ambiguity is reduced.

Birthdays today: Russia’s Vladimir Putin turns 68. Television personality Simon Cowell is 61.

On This Day in History: On October 7, 1959, the Soviet probe Luna 3 took the first photographs of the “Far Side of the Moon,” eighteen of them resolvable, covering one-third of the surface invisible from the Earth. (Wikipedia)

Astrologically, that day, fortuitous Jupiter, the planet of hope and expansion, had just entered its home turf of Sagittarius, which also rules space travel and exploration. Pioneering Mars in balancing Libra was also just separating from an exact (opportunity) sextile to change-oriented Uranus in the bold, theatrical sign of Leo the Lion. Uranus is the planet that governs, among other things, innovative breakthroughs and technological advances, including in such areas as aviation or pertaining to spacecraft.

Hope it’s a good one! Be safe and well. I’ve missed you guys!

“People who love themselves come across as very loving, generous and kind; they express their self-confidence through humility, forgiveness and inclusiveness.” Sanaya Roman

Violet, Sky, Star, Poetry

Today’s Energy:

The waxing Moon enters “athletic” and “pioneering” Aries (2:22 am) lending support to activities that keep our bodies in motion, as well as favoring projects in which we feel we are breaking new ground, or at least taking the initiative in some pivotal way. We are also seeking experiences, at this time, that will make us come to life emotionally.

The Moon’s late night square to “perceptive” Pluto (11:27 pm) is an opportunity for us to go deeper into our feelings, especially allowing us to see things in a new light; although, at the same time, we may want to avoid getting hung up on “what’s not working” then, an orientation which can be a subtle form of self-sabotage.

Relationship Venus, “the goddess of love,” conjuncts “generous” Jupiter in “service-minded” Virgo (4:03 pm). When these two planets pair up there’s always an eternal hope that we will be able to act in more loving ways toward each other, with Jupiter’s ray ideally expanding the unifying or connectivity properties of Venus. Venus-Jupiter can also be a time when we seek out more fun or pleasure.  A shadow side here is that we could become over-indulgent or overspend.

With this Venus-Jupiter conjunction occurring in “repair-oriented” Virgo, there’s robust potential for fixing what may be broken or amiss in our relationships, or in the environment around us. We also may be more inclined to “take the high road” in our interpersonal dealings, with Venus-Jupiter coinciding with more of a “generosity of spirit” and wanting to see the best in others.

Intellectual Mercury in Libra is also opposing “radical, progressive” Uranus in Aries (6:59 pm). This influence tends to “speed up our thinking,” as well as strengthen our intuition. It can be an excellent energy for brainstorming or finding new or unconventional solutions to old problems. Additionally, this aspect may foster stimulating group discussions, especially with respect to social issues.

All times EDT.

Questions for Today: How could you “take the high road” now? What could you overlook as a way of healing or improving your relationships?

Astrological Trivia: When Venus and Jupiter were conjunct in “romantic” Leo, on July 1, 2015, the Episcopal Church in the U.S. adopted its liturgy for “same-sex marriages.” (courtesy of Wikipedia.com). It should also be noted here that Jupiter does govern organized religion and philosophy.

“It’s so beautifully arranged on the plate – you know someone’s fingers have been all over it.” Julia Child

COSMIC WEATHER:

The Emotional Moon continues in “The Way To A Man’s Heart Is Through His Stomach” Cancer, until 2:22 pm EDT, at which time it enters “Entertaining Leo,” when we may feel a little like “singing for our supper.” The Leo Moon loves to perform and craves the spotlight of the stage.

Sex Lord Mars and Love Goddess Venus are still serving up hot and spicy entrees in private in the bedroom in “Passionate Lovemaking” Scorpio.

Over-indulgent Jupiter in, “I’ll Have One More For The Road” Pisces, is quinqunx Willful Mars, and trying to bribe him with excess and BS. This is one aspect we do have to keep an eye on. With Mars-Jupiter paired together, we usually tend to “go overboard” in  our beliefs and often act out in wild, fanatical ways. Like maybe going on a hunger strike for 40 days and nights, whatever it takes, in hopes that George Clooney will give us a call.

Meanwhile, Mental Mercury, in Logical Virgo, opposes Clever Uranus, who is sitting next to Jupiter at the bar in “Watering Hole” Pisces. Uranus is goading Mercury to come up with some “original recipes” for burgers to give to the Cancer Moon for today’s tailgate parties.

To be sure, “Mercury opposite Uranus” is a quirky influence that can make our “thoughts erratic” and “speech impulsive.” Because of the rebellious nature of Uranus, we can also be more “intellectually defiant.” Nevertheless, this is an aspect equated with “genius and originality.”

So today is an ideal time to press for “inventive, new solutions” to old problems. Maybe even try a little “‘cherries and whipped cream” on the burger, for a taste that’s refreshingly different. Especially since we also have the creative “Mars-Venus” conjunction in Scorpio, a sign which likes to “re-configure the nature of things.”

“To see things in the seed, that is genius.” Lao Tzu

Personal Note: Below is a photo of my glorious, mangled front yard in the aftermath of this week’s “Sun conjunct Saturn” square to my natal Mars at 7 degrees of Capricorn.

I had a huge, beautiful, red oak tree suddenly fall during a storm, taking parts of three other trees along with it (two maples and a dogwood).  Saturn rules forms and established structures (the trees). Aggressor Mars signifies the ‘Warrior” principle (the missile-like attack on the tree).  With “Mars stressful to Saturn” we often literally, and or symbolically, see “old structures topple” in order to make way for new, positive growth elements in our lives. I was very lucky that no one was hurt and my house was not damaged, to which I’m very thankful. Too, I am really looking forward to having more sunlight in my yard, so there is a “silver lining” to all this.

“Does anyone know anybody with a chain saw?” 🙂
