Today March 3, 2010 is “World Read Aloud Day.” This is a global event created by LitWorld to promote community bonding by reading aloud together. This event aims to bring attention to the importance of literacy in human development. LitWorld’s belief is “words change worlds.” Wouldn’t it be wonderful if every person on the planet could read, especially children?
When I first heard about this wonderful event yesterday, of course, as an astrologer, I immediately thought that it was such a perfect example of the present mix of planetary energies operating at their most elevated expression within the stream of human consciousness.
Currently in the heavens, the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter and Uranus are all in the compassionate sign of Pisces. This sign’s noblest expression of energy is epitomized as true “selfless love,” in which we are more concerned with the needs of others more than our own.
Pisces, as the last sign of the zodiac, is also the one sign in which we come closest to embracing our link with the Divine. Pisces ideally represents the erosion of all boundaries between us. Its intention is to foster endless caring for each other, particularly caring for those persons and communities who may be more vulnerable and disadvantaged.
On another level, Pisces is also highly imaginative and creative since this sign is ruled by Neptune which rules our imagination. This special event today also fits in very nicely with the magnetic Venus and Uranus conjunction in Pisces that is taking place now. Venus is the relationship or bonding planet, while Uranus represents the collective or brotherhood of man.
When these two energies team up, we are more inclined to want to form partnerships with each other across a diverse array of cultures, races and religions. Venus and Uranus also arouses within us a clamoring and excitement to want to do something different and fun together, and in Pisces, meaningful at the same time, which today’s event is surely designed to be.
In astrology, Mercury, which governs our minds, also rules literacy and communication: speaking, reading and writing. Today it is applying to a powerful sextile to regenerating Pluto. This influence makes it an ideal time to bring an awareness of, and simultaneously celebrate literacy, especially with young children, coupled with the hope that this event can maybe change or transform their worlds permanently.
The whole Pluto experience is about self-discovery and transformation, and linked to Mercury, as it is now, there’s nothing more exciting than the discovery of words – words that can change our world! Pluto also, by the way, represents the global masses. This can be a very powerful, rejuvenating day for all of us. Let’s embrace it! Let’s make our world a better place, especially for our young people and children.
