Communicator and Idea Guru Mercury, in “talk till you drop” Sagittarius, forms an exact square to “windbag” Jupiter in “Please, will everyone just shut up and meditate instead!” Pisces on November 25, 2010 (9:19 am EST). This can be a psychologically exasperating influence for us to have to deal with, especially if we have to be around people who are blabbermouths anyway. “Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah…”

Plus this influence is exact on Thanksgiving Day, a time when we are already traditionally holed up with long-winded relatives for hours on end with no chance for a fast escape.

Mercury in Sag wants to “seek and spread the truth” and aligned with Preacher Jupiter, the ruler of Sagittarius, in delusional Pisces, we tend to go way overboard in this mission, to the point of heavy-duty fanaticism and even evangelizing the goldfish. So we definitely want to make sure that we avoid a discussion of, really, any “hot-button” topics at the Thanksgiving dinner table, i.e. religion or politics, or who really should be the next Queen of England. We would probably especially be wise to steer clear from talking about Sarah Palin and the Tea Party, or the matter of Nancy Pelosi‘s hair. Or who really should have won this year’s “Dancing With the Stars.” Lest we run the risk of all manner of mayhem ensuing and pumpkin pies being tossed in our faces and turkey drumsticks turning into homestead defense missiles.

We are also still in the aftermath of Mercury’s conjunction with warrior Mars in self-righteous Sagittarius and we have already seen what has happened on the world front in North Korea with this scary influence. Mercury conjunct Mars: “Yes, I believe it’s time to start a war!  Let me just push a few buttons here. Boy this is fun!” Right.

Additionally, Mercury square grandiose Jupiter glosses over details, exaggerates, and over-promises in its predisposition to focus on the “big picture.” But, when all is said and done, at the end of the day, Mercury-Jupiter can also be “a lot of fun” and “refreshingly optimistic.” There is more of a tendency towards laughter, and maybe cracking a few funny jokes with this aspect. And, to just look at life, and appreciate it, from a more “humorous” perspective. Jupiter does rule our “sense of humor.” Jupiter is also a “great storyteller,” especially when linked up with “wordsmith”  Mercury.
