“Lukewarm acceptance is more bewildering than outright rejection.” Martin Luther King Jr.

There’s a fairy-tale wedding taking place in the cosmos today – and we’re all invited.  Sweet, seductive Venus in Pisces is marrying the planet of her dreams, the benevolent and generous, Lord Jupiter. The much heralded event is taking place at 6 degrees of Pisces, the exact degree of their mutual conjunction today.  Their propitious union holds the prospect, and magical hope, of abundant love and plenty of riches for all of us this day, as Venus is the Goddess of Love, and Jupiter is the Planet of Luck and Good Fortune.

It’s been a while since these two paired up in the dreamy, savior sign of Pisces.  The last time was back in late April of 1998. The planetary conjunction between the two of them was exact on April 22, 1998 that year.  That very same day, Disney opened “Animal Kingdom,” the first Disney theme park to be themed exclusively around animal conservation, which reportedly was a philosophy that Walt Disney himself espoused.  Today, “Animal Kingdom” is the largest theme park in the world, perhaps in some measure due to the initial benefic and loving alliance and imprint of Venus and Jupiter. Jupiter, as our largest planet, always likes to “oversize” things.  Pisces, as the sign of compassion, also rules zoos and wildlife refuge shelters.

There also appears to be a “James Bond” connection to Venus and Jupiter in Pisces.  The beautiful British actress, Jayne Seymour, a “Bond Girl” was born with these two planets together in this sign back in 1951.  Also, the late British singer, Dusty Springfield, had this same configuration when she was born in 1939. Dusty’s most memorable hit, “The Look of Love,” was a tune in the Bond flick “Casino Royale.”

Surely, too, Venus and Jupiter sent Dusty Springfield to us as a byproduct of their love and affection for each other, and the fervent wish that we might also fall in love, deeply like they did, when we heard Dusty sing that unforgettable melody, truly one of the most, if not the most, romantic songs of all time. Pisces rules the creative arts, including music, acting and motion pictures.  Perhaps we should also enlist Venus and Jupiter’s bountiful creative energies here, and make some beautiful music of our own today, as an expression of all the love that is in each of our hearts.

Another interesting astrological Pisces tidbit about Jayne Seymour.  Remember her starring role in the popular hit series “Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman?” In it, she successfully portrayed the role of a doctor and advisor.  Pisces is the zodiacal sign that rules doctors and all healing professionals, as by its very nature, Pisces epitomizes unselfish service to others, as a form of personal self-expression.  Perhaps Venus and Jupiter were grooming her for that part from the very beginning, when they got together in Pisces at the time of Jayne’s birth, because they knew she would provide pleasurable healing entertainment for all of us.

On April 20, 1939, when Dusty Springfield was but a few days old, Venus and Jupiter in Pisces were once again working their powerful magic, but this time in a more soulful, spiritual way.  American jazz singer, Billie Holiday, recorded a song that day, entitled “Strange Fruit.” It was the first anti-lynching song ever recorded.  The song condemned racism, particularly the lynching of African Americans. Holiday’s version of this song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1978. In December of 1999, Time Magazine called “Strange Fruit,” the “song of the century.”

By the way, Billie Holiday also had Venus conjunct Jupiter in Pisces, in her own stars, when she was born back in 1915. She also had her warrior Mars there, making her a natural, passionate “spiritual warrior” for the betterment of all of humanity.

So, you see, the Venus and Jupiter legacy in Pisces, is quite rich indeed, and something that we have an opportunity to add to today, in a meaningful way, with the expression of our own creative energies, and caring compassion, both  for ourselves and others. When we do act nobly, and selflessly, in our own unique manner, we will most definitely be richly rewarded. That’s the sacred promise of Venus and Jupiter. (See the “Strange Fruit” lyrics at the end.)

The Moon is in sensitive, tender-hearted Pisces all day, adding to the emotionalism, creativity, and compassion of the Venus-Jupiter betrothal.  At 7:30 pm EST the pace accelerates, however, and the emoting is muted, as the Moon enters fiery, pioneering Aries.

Famous persons born on this day: Sonny Bono, John McEnroe, Margaux Hemingway.

Strange Fruit
Southern trees bear strange fruit,
Blood on the leaves and blood at the root,
Black body swinging in the Southern breeze,
Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees.
Pastoral scene of the gallant South,
The bulging eyes and the twisted mouth,
Scent of magnolia sweet and fresh,
Then the sudden smell of burning flesh!
Here is fruit for the crows to pluck,
For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck,
For the sun to rot, for the trees to drop,
Here is a strange and bitter crop.

Peace and love.  Enjoy your day!
